The best matcha croissant and delicious baked goods
Wow. I don’t usually post, but today I had the worst eclair I’ve ever had. The cream was over whipped into butter that tasted rancid, and the choux pastry was soft and stale. The chocolate was okay. The cortado was actually a latte. The half and half was empty, and I was offered whole milk instead of a half and half refill. Customer service was not offered in any authentic or even inauthentic way.
So very sad to see that your bakery closed in Oakland. Another great loss for Oakland and all who loved going there for some of the best baked breads and pastries anywhere.
They have the best matcha latte and matcha croissant ever
These guys are double charging the city tax. Won’t correct it when told
Pastry were the flakies ever! Delicious 😋
CINNAMON ROLLS!
What a great location. Pastries were good but food was abysmal. Pizza sauce was sour and salty. Grilled chicken and chicken tenders were overcooked and dried as croutons. I hope they improve the food because this bakery has so much potentials.
We bought a loaf of the Sourdough baguette and the whole wheat walnut levain at our local Whole Foods in Walnut Creek (Ygnacio Valley Rd.). Both loaves felt and tasted day old. The crust on both were tough and chewy.
I used to work at Whole Foods and whether it is on Firebrand or on Whole Foods, the fact remains that this bread was a huge disappointment. Especially for the price. We felt genuinely ripped off.
Our first, and last, time purchasing Firebrand.
This is a review of their bread, not the location, which is pretty cool.
I keep buying firebrand at the grocery store by mistake, thinking the packaging looks nifty and niche, but every time I bite into one of their relatively crusty loaves, I am saddened and bored. I don’t get it, everything about this bread looks right. It just has absolutely no flavor, no character, their sourdough taste like wonder bread. Sigh.

Best bakery anywhere!!!! Hot food is phenomenal too. Potatoes are off the hook.
This place has amazing food and drinks and a nice atmosphere. The one notable thing is everything here is at least somewhat spicy. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich and my lips and mouth still burn from it 30 minutes later. It was probably the most by far spicy sandwich I have ever had and also one of the best, though outside my tolerance. They also have lots of pasteries that I didn't try that look good and also many non spicy savory things. I recommend!
One of my favorite breakfast/lunch spots on the island!! Their pastries are out of this world. I always show up too late to order a toast plate (they’re only served up until a certain time), but there are SO MANY other delicious options! The veggie burger is one of my personal favorites, along with the peanut butter and banana smoothie. And the people behind the counter are always super kind and down to earth.
Awesome brunch spot. We had the biscuits & gravy $16. It comes in a bowl with two fried eggs. That was great. The rest were bacon, lettuce, avocado tomato $16, chicken pesto pizza $24, croissant $3.50 and sliders $18. The food did take a while to come out after we ordered at the counter. They get busy during brunch hours from the spillover crowd. Next door is a brewery. After our brunch, we took a walk around the warehouses to burn off the calories. I wish we took our bicycles with us. There's some nice bicycles paths around.
Their bread is not that great and nothing to write home about. Coffee is great though. Lots of outdoor space to hangout and eat.
