The food was great, the service was excellent, I was very satisfied
Es ist ein lecker Deutsches Restaurant auf Alameda! (My German may be shaky) But this is truly a stable establishment. We look forward to Oktoberfest every late September, but the Bier flows perfectly all year round. I highly recommend the dunkel. Some other menu items that stand out are the German potato salad, the schnitzel, Spätzle, and Wurst. Service has always been personal and friendly.

This place was exquisite! From the outside it looks like a standard restaurant that has outdoor seating. On the inside is where the magic happens, the chef! I had the organic roasted chicken. That meal was mouth watering! The herbs and butter with the mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts were a perfect combination. I have not had food that goinmsince I was in IBravohats off to the chef, because they killed it!
Dietary restrictions: Great options for gluten-free!
Parking: Street parking only.

Most of the items on the menu sounded amazingly delicious so I had a tough time deciding what to order. We ended up getting the Frikadellen and Jäger Schnitzel vom Schwein. I am a picky eater with a food intolerance and our wait person checked with the kitchen to help me decide what would be safest to order with my food intolerance in mind. It was very considerate and I am very grateful that she went out of her way to do that. We also ordered apfelwein, schnapps, and a dessert. The apple strudel was deliciously crispy on the outside and served warm.

First time visiting Speisekammer, and I hope to visit again when I'm in town. The food was prepared fresh and it certainly did not disappoint! We shared a pretzel with beer cheese sauce and the potato pancakes with apple compote - these were such a treat! My daughter had the fresh Buffalo mozzarella and pesto sandwich, SO delicious! I chose the German cold cut charcuterie, again quite delicious, but we took a good portion of it home to enjoy for a couple of days! Our waiter was very friendly, courteous and attentive. This will be your "not to miss spot in Alameda"!

This used to be my favorite restaurant. It sold a few months ago and it is not the same. Went for a beer with a friend this past week and the service was terrible. Our server brought us our drinks but because we didn't order food he proceeded to ignore us for the next hour. We were done with our drinks in 30 minutes and waited 30 minutes for our bill before giving up and going to the bar to pay. The bartender said he couldn't help that we had to pay our server (duh we were trying too). We asked the hostess to find him which she finally did. He had an order for the kitchen in his hand when she told him we were waiting. He acted surprised and said "Oh your ready?" We said yes and he walked by us and back to the kitchen. He came back a few minutes later to take our payment. He never apologized. He was not only bad at his job he was unprofessional. There was no manager in sight the entire evening, just kids running the show. I am bummed because I used to love this place but clearly the change in ownership has not gone well.

Food is decent though certainly not German. Screaming kids, very loud, no parking. Server was friendly.

Excellent place for German fare! The appetizers are to die for; whether it be the fresh-baked pretzels, potato pancakes, or the basket of fries with curry ketchup, they're all good. This extends over to the main courses too (I'm telling you, the weinerschitzel and spaetzle are some of the best I've had from anywhere). It should also go without saying that the imported beer selections are great and they serve them right. It's a welcoming place with exceptional staff service and very old-world Germania styling inside and out. Try this place out for some great comfort food in the Bay Area!
Parking: It's in a neighborhood that's somewhat cramped so it can sometimes be a bit difficult to find parking, but that can be said for a lot of areas within Alameda so it's not so much a restaurant-specific thing. It doesn't usually take more than a block or two to find a spot thankfully.
