I’ve been here a few times, but my last experience a few minutes ago was extremely terrible. The fried pork cutlet was soggy and my order was incorrect. The older lady behind the counter wouldn’t refund me and argued with me even though i was really understanding. I was extremely saddened she wouldn’t help me in the way i needed her to. I left whatever wrong order they gave me on the counter and will have to cancel the order through my bank.

The fried food is covered in typical Hong-King spice, which makes the karaage or tonkatsu taste wrong. It's not a Japanese flavor. Unfortunately we can't stand the flavor of that spice as it tastes like stale food to us. In addition the curry is kind of bland and watery. Not particularly impressed with the final result and given the unpleasant spice added to the mix, I can't do more than 2 stars.
This place is so good i'm so glad there's a Japanese curry place in the east bay :)
The food was delicious! Ordered 2 Sandwiches for takeout and ate it right by the beach. Within an hour both of us felt an upset stomach and had to run home though so i suspect something wasn’t exactly right.
Amazing find in Alameda's South Shore Shopping Center. I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry over steamed rice (Heat level: BOMB), and the Tonkatsu Sando. Great flavor. Ate everything up. Can't beat the price either. Highly recommend!!
Came here by random chance and I was blown away. $12 for a great katsu sando, a drink, and fries?? The woman who was there was very sweet and the food was ready very quickly. Katsu was hot, fries were clearly made to order, and I even grabbed some onigiri and musubi for the road. All in all I left with a hefty sack of delicious food for under $20. I think I have a new favorite lunch spot.
Parking: Easy parking in a huge lot.

There was a such a sweet older woman at the counter today. She let me wait in store for my order while I ate my ice cream, as it was a bit chilly out. Let’s my food was ready she wrapped it carefully, gave me a smile and told me to have a great rest of my dayIf only I could wish her a great rest of her life ?. The food was great too. They really know how to make spicy food, spicy! 10/10
Quiet and lowkey place. Never crowded whenever we eat here. Food is reliable and tasty.
My daughter saw this place and wanted curry. We got some and the aroma had our mouths watering in the car. Once home, the best curry we have ever had. Not spicy but rich and flavorful.Went back today for udon, and again, the best udon we have ever had.
Vegetarian options: can be completely without meat
Parking: Mall parking plentiful within 50 feet.
Dietary restrictions: Ask about what we wanted for our sauce.

I'm not really sure what I expected when I went here but when my plate arrived I was taken back. The depth of flavor in the curry and the cook on the tonkotsu was lovely. Slightly too much rice for my liking but I won't complain. Definitely would recommend

The food felt so homemade and authentic. I watch so much of the street food on YouTube and I imagine this is how it taste like in Japan!!
Kid-friendliness: It right by a kids play area in the plaza and facing the water and beach.
Parking: It's in South Shore (aka Alameda town center) and the place is in the middle of the parking lot, so there's plenty of parking and is walking distance from anywhere you park.
I forgot to take photos, but the curry is a wonderful beef based sauce. I dined in because I wanted to try it fresh and it was totally worth it. I ordered the chicken katsu curry (chicken was moist!) And a couple of spam musubi (both delicious as well as the rice was not dry). I'm coming back for sure.
Food is good but the service is terrible. I was given an online order pickup of 7:20pm and ended up standing and waiting until almost 8:00pm to receive my food. There was only one cashier who kept running to the back to bring out orders. She kept telling me 5 more minutes, 10 minutes, etc. but clearly nobody was making my order. Other customers had come in after me and were having their new orders fulfilled. After coming home we found out that the curry was not even heated, just lukewarm.
Second time here. Even better than the first. Medium curry was spicy enough. Tonkatsu curry, undon, and yakitori tasty and good value.
