Overall food is fine here. Quite disappointed by their order services two separate times. One time, we found a piece of plastic in the rolls. The staff casually explained that they use plastic gloves to make sushi. I know that, and that is not an excuse to customers if they have a high standards of ethics. Second time, they took a wrong order and ask us to drive back to pick up. No accomodations. We pay for the cost from our time and driving for their mistakes. I don't appreciate the level of care they have for customers. Disappointing.
The Decor is amazing. It's so quaint inside. It makes you want to return for a cup of soup or something. I ordered the combination dinner. Teriyaki Salmon and Tempura. Unfortunately the Salmon was over cooked (it was not flaky, it was solid and hard to cut with a fork) and tasted fishy. The Tempura was very Heavily breaded. I would not order a bento box upon my return. The reason I would return is the decor. Maybe I'll give a roll a chance.
Was in town and my daughter wanted some sushi. So we decided to try Yokohama based on the Yelp reviews. We ordered angry Godzilla, gyoza, chicken Katsu, and the golden bridge special. The bridge was pretty it came with a variety of sushi's. My daughter liked the angry Godzilla but the katsu was just okay. Overall the food was good but nothing special, the place was quaint and it's in a good location. Parking might be hard but there should be plenty of street parking .
Love the food and the service. Very nice staff! Enjoy the intimacy of the restaurant too.
I love the service, the accommodations, the flavors and the vast options! This place has kept our household fed many a night during the pandemic and shelter in place while taking advantage of the curbside pickup. Thank you for being one of the best sushi spots on the island! Whenever we bring your takeout home for guests, they love it too!
True Japanese food. I have been looking for the real Japanese sushi and I didn't realize it was just in Alameda. Right Price. Right Taste.
Really enjoyed the food. Place is small but I highly recommend. The Lion King roll was excellent!
One of the best sushi spots in the bay!! Me and my boyfriend went here for a nice dinner and this place exceeded above and beyond our expectations! Every single roll was incredible and we ended with the green tea mochi ice cream which was also delicious. The setup of the restaurant itself is also very cute and clean, a Japanese style setting. We will definitely come back here many many more times!
Date: 7/17/2021 Time: 6:41 PM 65° Sunny My first time here, so I will let it be a surprise as far as the taste of their food is concerned. I asked the waitress for a paper menu, so I could take the time to peruse it and decide what I want for dinner to go. There were so many choices to select from. Such an extensive menu could be overwhelming. Decision, decision, decision! Specialties: lunch special (teriyaki & katsu, donburi, shioyaki, udon, tempura), lunch combo bento box, sushi, sashimi. Lunch is served Tuesdays through Fridays, 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Assorted appetizers, sashimi, tempura and sunomono. Yokohama dinner offers combination dinner, deluxe bento box. There's also over 40 different types of rolls. Yum! Eats: Combination tempura (3 jumbo shrimp and assorted vegetables. Meal included rice and salad. The batter on the shrimp was a bit too crunchy. I removed all that crunchy batter and tossed it. At least I enjoyed the veggie tempura. Too much rice = too much carbs. Customer service was good. I didn't have to wait too long for my dinner to go. Future visit? Yes, at lunch time for lunch combo bento box, some wakame and miso soup.
Authentic. Fresh. Delicious. Good service too.
authentic, super fresh, good value, good service. sashimi was first class. we'll be back
I don't know what these people who gave good reviews to this place are smoking?? Because this place was very disappointing and awful! First it was the greeting; the Lady was cold and seemed annoyed at our presence, second the AC wasn't on or something, third we were the only ones in this place (Sunday) and she still took her sweet time to come to our table and take our drinks order, fourth, we all KEPT saying thank you and she never replied to us nor look at us in the face! The Sushi was super tiny and not good at all, it wasn't even fresh. She and other employees kept staring at us the whole time, with a frowny face. And when she would approach our table it wasn't in a "Can I get you something else way" but more like " Are guys leaving now?" We also noticed that she wouldn't do the same when non colored customers came in, her treatment towards them was different. Even the pictures of people on the tables were of only Caucasians and Asians. Our bill was too High. For the food, the experience , the ambient and service this place was way too expensive!
Super friendly wait staff , very delicious rolls and reasonable prices.
Avoid sitting under the sign in the booth in the front window, which was a little uncomfortable and chilly with the air blowing on us. Received a complimentary piece of grilled salmon. Friendly table service.
Delicious and authentic food. Sashimi was so fresh and portions were generous. Wonderful service, the nice lady checked on us frequently and with a sweet smile. We enjoyed the Yokohama bento dinner, teriyaki salmon, shioyaki hamachi, tempura/sashimi combo, hand roll, donburi, shioyaki saba, Cherry Blossom roll, and more! Don’t forget nicely chilled Sapporo. Will definitely be back!
