9/24/23 around 330pm. I was super excited to taste some food since I was in this area for a short while. I did not take pictures, unfortunately, but I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and Oxtail dish with Yams and Mac N Cheese with Banana Pudding for dessert. I phone ordered and showed up about 10 minutes later. I was not given a time when my order would be ready, however, I went in the restaurant to pay for it. I noticed 2 people behind the counter ( a young man and lady. I did see people eating, but it was not super packed. I waited about 10 more minutes and then asked how much longer because I did not see any food being made. The young man said about 7 to 10 more minutes. I waited and just kept looking around. I went outside and then came back in and he said my order was ready. As he is packing my order I reiterated that he had my Chicken and Waffles and Oxtails with my sides. He seemed super distracted and said something like he had to go downstairs to get something. I went to the restroom while he was packing my order, and when I returned, I reminded him of my water. grabbed my food and left. I opened the Oxtails and was so disappointed. I paid $25 for 4 of the smallest thumb sized portion which had so much gristle...literally no meat and barely a savory taste. I can say the Mac n cheese was good and Yams as well as the Banana Pudding. The extra disappointing thing was about almost an hour later I get a call from the young MAN, HE FORGOT to give me my Chicken. I had to return back. Super Disappointing. They had an event going on and I had to go disturb the man behind the counter. He said he wasn't surprised he forgot my order and smiled. A lady came and found my order. They did not give me that order, but gave me the skimpiest 3pcs Chicken. After getting home and trying the Chicken and Waffles..that was disappointing. The chicken was so salty. I know they are changing the restaurant name, but I will not be returning at all.

Walk in and crazy that the spot smells like a Chinese restaurant. Has an old school feeling. Felt very chill in there. So idk if he's the owner, I think so I get that vibe...Pastor Kirk...well, he's an awesome guy!! Food was good. I got the 2/2...fried fish & fried chicken (asked for breast piece) collard greens w/turkey and green beans/potatoes. Was real good. Come and check this spot out!! Just the ambiance itself is excellent!!

Good fried fish. Wish they had more catfish meal options. Also seems like the cooking is inconsistent at times. Odd cornmeal battered chicken. Lack of seasoning in sides. I still order here twice a week for the catfish. I like to take my plate home to season myself.

The fried chicken was essentially steamed on the way home. Fortunately, texture aside, the flavor was amazing. I could only imagine how much better it would have been with a crispy crust. The ribs were delicious and didn't suffer as much from being steamed. I enjoyed the collard greens, I only wish there was a piece of pork with greens. The rice was the only part of the meal that I didn't enjoy, the texture was watery.

Ridiculous! The food was nasty. Don’t waste and time. Not worth the price. Spent $14 for a ribs, pork chop, ribs and dinner. The red beans and rice had to thrown in the garbage because they were spoiled. The potato salad was runny and the green beans were canned with a few potatoes and no flavor. The link and (1) rib obviously were boiled. This is not soul food. It is trash!

This place has continuously gone down hill since it was on Contra Loma. Over priced for Tiny food portions. $25 for an Oxtail plate. 2 small tail pieces and 2 empty bones. Might as well charge more so you guys can give a respectable portion size. NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!

Great food. Lovely staff. If comfort "soul" food is your thing, do try this place. Fried fish, fried chicken, pork ribs, cabbage, jambalaya., green beans and potatoes, cornbread and beignet... we tried it all. Delicious.

Front desk girl is really rude has no understanding of priority and running a business she had my door dasher wait over 30 minutes to get my food out when I called she told me that there is 2 walkins hmmmmm you're supposed to tend to your to go orders first before you tend to people who are just walking in since your to go order is already paid hopefully after management sees this and they learn how to run a business efficiently .. Will NOT return I really liked this place but lacks management and ethics
