Akira in Aptos is a solid choice for sushi lovers, offering a dining experience that's worth a visit. The restaurant's extensive menu is one of its standout features, boasting a rich array of options that cater to various tastes and preferences.
The server we encountered was notably friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations was appreciated, especially when navigating the extensive options.
While the food at Akira is generally good, there's room for improvement in terms of taste. Some dishes could benefit from a bit more refinement to truly elevate the flavors.
One aspect that slightly detracts from the experience is the restroom situation. During busy periods, the facilities can become overcrowded, which may cause some inconvenience for diners.
The restaurant offers a pleasant ambiance, suitable for both casual dinners and special occasions. The sushi bar provides an opportunity to watch the chefs at work, adding an element of entertainment to your meal.
In conclusion, Akira in Aptos is a commendable sushi spot with a few areas for improvement. Its strengths lie in its diverse menu, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere. With some fine-tuning of flavors and attention to facility management during peak hours, Akira has the potential to become a top-tier sushi destination in the area.

I had a bento box what is beef teriyaki, what you did not taste right to me, it tasted fishy. The edamame was not fresh, the rice was good trade my friend had tempura which was delicious. Next time I go I'll just order tempura

Extremely good service. Friendly staff. 3 item combo serving is generous
Creative names and an extensive menu make this popular for non traditional Japanese cuisine. Service was pleasant. Food reasonable.

We were a party of 4 that ordered shared appetizers, sushi and several individual Bento boxes. Food came out in an odd order (one appetizer was actually last) so the table was too crowded. Our 3 sushi rolls all had the same three sauces not, following the menu descriptions, and all tasted the same. We probably won't go back.

My family and I use to come here weekly, but we stopped coming after having 3 bad experiences in a row. The reason was the food changed and got significantly lower in quality. The price did not justify what is being served. We would get the same order every week for years, the fish quality changed, the imitation crab got weirdly dry/chalky, the tempura inside our rolls was very stale. The portions changed as well, if I got a roll topped with salmon it would be little squares of salmon in top of the roll instead of wrapping around the sides of the roll. We are really sad about the changes and don’t plan to return.
