Honestly, this is one of the best BBQ places in the Bay Area. Their meats definitely have that WOW factor! I love how welcoming the staff is here. It feels like they genuinely want you to feel comfortable and enjoy some great BBQ. We’ve ordered takeout and dined in many times, and I’ve always appreciated the consistency of the food. The quality of the meat is top-notch, with a perfect smoky flavor and tenderness. Their brisket is the best — a great balance of lean and fatty cuts, crispy edges, and juicy, flavorful meat that falls apart beautifully. The tri-tip is also moist and cooked to perfection, though you can definitely notice the difference in tenderness between the two cuts of beef. The ribs are meaty, perfectly cooked, and have a wonderful smoky flavor. They shouldn't fall off the bone on their own, but they come off easily — exactly how ribs should be. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The pulled BBQ pork melts in your mouth, incredibly moist and perfectly smoked. One thing to note: items tend to run out early, so it’s a good idea to call or order ahead!

Best atmosphere. Live music and friendly staff. The food is out of this world. I always get the brisket sandwich.

Maybe we were just unlucky, but the BBQ was sub-par. Brisket was offensively salty and tri-tip super chewy. Ribs were ok, but nothing to write home about. Coleslaw was sorriest excuse of slaw I've seen. Literally just cabbage.
BBQ sauce was very good.

The food is good but so disappointed that when food is ordered to take out, bar-b-q sauce isn't included, nor told we had to get it ourselves... not cool

Best American food on our trip
We were able to try a few things on our trip through several states, but this was by far the best. Erin helped us create our menu with selections and questions. Thank you for the really good service!
The atmosphere was also really good.

Restaurantji Recommends
Ordered a brisket sandwich and mac and cheese. The sandwich was all fat and hardly any meat. The flavor was bland and the one good bite that I got of the muscle was very dry. Very disappointed. Needed to smother it with sauce to add flavor.the mac and cheese was also dry…

When they first opened they had really good barbecue. I highly recommend the hot link. I used to go there all the time. Now not so much because it's inconsistent. You get undercooked overcooked too salty... brisket and ribs. Just went back to try them again hoping that they had improved. Nope not so much. I don't recommend anybody in Santa Cruz County for barbecue. Aptos street is by far the better one but still not that great. So if you got to have barbecue and you don't care if it's cooked by people that don't care this is the place for you.
