Food was excellent. I was surprised however that when the wrong size wine was delivered Jo asked us to make up the difference rather than correcting the mistake. ?‍♂️ We made up the difference.

Happened to be there the night of the big storm earlier this month. Power went out. But not after a superb meal including a heavenly polenta and a roast chicken that couldn’t be better.

Couldn't reserve on Valentine's day, so we ate there on the 15th. The Val-day menu was still available, so we shared the last black truffle pizza, w. a cheese base flecked with small bits of truffle. Then the server shredded truffle slices over the top--OMG--$65 and worth every penny! (Regular pizzas range from $17 to $26.) For starters, we split an arugula salad and a vegetable side (brown butter braised cabbage--even if you hate cabbage, you'll love this). For dessert, we shared the affogato. The chocolate was molded and formed against the side and bottom of the cup, then they poured espresso into the cup. Superb. I said to my husband, "This tastes like Valrhona." You know you have an outstanding server when you ask which brand of chocolate was used. Zach answered, "Valrhona." I use this superb variety for every chocolate dessert I make.

Had the worse experience I'm sitting in a brewery now in Asheville still thinking back at the insult that was my last meal out in the Santa Cruz area. A memory that lingers unfortunately. Get it together. This brewery simple food far exceeds any dish we got that night. Shameful!

I can't say enough about the food at Mentone!! The Caesar salad is to die for! More importantly, Manager that runs the restaurant, Sean is so on point and creates an ambience and a restaurant culture that makes it nice to visit. I recently had birthday there, and Sean brought out a birthday dessert with a candle that really topped off the birthday day!!

The food was exorbitantly priced, and the pizza crust was disappointingly soggy, lacking in taste. The Caesar salad is overrated and salty, while the pasta portion is disappointingly small for the price. Doubtful if I'll return.

I had dinner with my daughter at Mentone's last night - my first time & her second. Our dinner was incredible!!! We shared the duck & pistachio terrine, the citrus and fennel salad, the mushroom tagliatelle and the lemon curd dessert. My only complaint is they need to add a true buttery chardonnay to their by the glass menu - their white wine choices are too acidic and dry

I have only been to Mentone for drinks twice before, but have been meaning to try it for dinner for a couple of years. I finally got to it. Delicious. The soup was amazing. Salad was terrific. It was happy hour so we got a delicious pizza Margherita if we ordered a bottle of wine. The staff helped me pick a delicious Nebbiolo. The pasta with chanterelles was delicious. And then we split a scoop of chocolate gelato that was sublime. The staff was attentive and helpful. I will absolutely go back.

Nothing less than spectacular! I swear if they made the napkins here they would taste amazing! Every single thing we ordered was the best version of that thing we've ever had. I will always say yes to dinner here! The stracciatella is divine, as is the braised cabbage and the polenta. The sopressata pizza was also amazing. Definitely make the trek over the hill to this place!

Mentone does the following really, really, really, really well: * CAESAR SALAD. It is hands-down the BEST caesar salad I've ever had and ever will have. You won't want to share it even though it's meant for sharing. * PESTO GENOVESE. Chef Kinch went to Genoa and now so can you when you eat this pesto. Be transported. * SOPPRESSATA. It's made with fairy dust. Literally. This place is just a gem.

The food is good and is Michelin rated but I do not understand how this place will stay in business. We have eaten there twice but have tried several times to just walk in and sit at the bar. One time we were told by the hostess "no" that there was a private party being held but the bar was open. We said we'd wait. The hostess said no we couldn't wait to sit at the bar. She was rude. Hmmmm. After several failed attempts to make a reservation for a Friday night we finally got a reservation for last night. When we arrived there was a sign on the door saying they were closed for maintenance until January 17. REALLY?! Over a long weekend? How do places like this stay in business? We've stopped by other random times and they were closed. I will stop trying. Not worth it.
