This was our first time visiting Arvin and we decided to try El Chavalon. The entire experience was great. The staff was so kind and attentive. The food was delicious. I had the ceviche de Camaron Cocido and the Habia Sushi. The Horchata was yummy too. I will be back again!

Great little gem in Arvin. Delicious food and great service. Very attentive staff that have a well kept restaurant. I will definitely be out here the rest of my stay this week.

I was excited to eat their California roll but never again, the rice was hard as if undercooked!

The music has been too loud the times we've eaten there. Music Choice is not the best. Not all of us enjoy that noise when we are eating. It should be respectful, and try to expand your music library. Please and, thank you.Vegetarian options: Not very many, what they have are good.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly, the music is vulgar.Dietary restrictions: Food is good because there are no dietary restrictions. Restrict yourself and be happy or just enjoy the food as is!

Friendly and fast service. The food was presented nice and fresh, with its own Mex flare to authentic Japanese sushi. I enjoyed the Habia roll and Buffalo shrimp fries. The music and decor also added to a nice dining atmosphere.

Continuing my Lamont/Arvin lunch series, if you're in Arvin and have an urgent craving to eat sushi at lunch time, let me tell you. Don't come here with even the slightest expectation that you're going to get a decent one. First off, it's not sushi because most all the rolls are made with imitation crab meat. I didn't see any with raw fish on rice. I got what they call Habia roll, which was a deep fried roll that had imitation crab meat inside. I couldn't tell if there was even avocado. While it looked promising when it got to the table, it didn't deliver in taste. It was heavy and one noted. I'm all for fusion-type dishes and if this is Mexican-fused with Japanese, the chef needs to go back to the drawing board. Mind you, this was at least $14.99 or some other ridiculous price. They could at least get some pickled ginger and/or wasabi to channel a bit of Asian authenticity. Save your money and craving for dinner when you get back to town in Bakersfield. While they have mariscos and probably do a decent job, I'm not a fan and will probably not come back to give it a second try.

It's difficult to find sushi in arvin but this place does a good job offering different sushi options with a Mexican twist. The restaurant is super clean, and staff is friendly. I asked to order a vegetable w/ avocado roll (without any seafood/fish) and they were super sweet and made one. We ordered to go and they added spoon/fork/napkin individually wrapped. The chile and grilled onions were a plus to this meal and added a slight of spiciness.
