Great, intimate atmosphere. The 12 oz. New York Steak with mashed potatoes was very good. Would definitely go again!

The wife & I stayed in Avila for 5 days & had dinner at Blue Moon Over Avila Restaurant 3 out of those 5 days. The food is excellent. I can highly recommend the wine & charcuterie board pairing. 🙌🏼 The clam chowder soup is the best we’ve ever had. The beef bourguignon was amazing. 🤩 And if you are into salads, I’d recommend the Classic Salad Niçoise w/ Spanish Albacore. If the food wasn’t enough to keep us coming back, the service at Blue Moon over Avila Restaurant needs to be equally recognized. The servers were knowledgeable, kind, energetic, & worked so well as a team we felt like we had a whole staff waiting on us. Thank you to the staff & cooks for helping to give us such a great experience. We will see you again on our next visit.

Bubbling Brie was amazing. Wish we had ordered one each!

The Duck a L’Orange was delicious.

The Wild Mushroom Ravioli was delicious but the portion could’ve been bigger.

We would definitely come back. The staff were all lovely.

Avila’s Blue Moon is a delightful gem along the Central Coast, offering a warm welcome and a surprising twist on French cuisine. From the moment we arrived, the friendly service made us feel like regulars—even on our first visit. The meal began with fresh, crusty French baguettes that set the tone for what was to come: comforting, elevated classics with a local flair.

The croque monsieur was a standout, marrying traditional French indulgence with a Californian twist—think golden, buttery bread layered with savory ham and cheese, all complemented by a side of creamy clam chowder that somehow worked perfectly. It was both unexpected and delicious. But the true star of the meal was the crémant: a luscious, dreamy sparkling that was refreshing on a perfect summer day.

If you’re strolling through Avila Beach and craving something unique yet comforting, Avila’s Blue Moon serves up charm, creativity, and classic flavors done right. We’ll definitely be back.

The steak dinner I had was delicious. It was cooked to perfection and the portions were a good size including the mashed potatoes and vegetables. The side of French bread was exactly how I love it, toasty on the outside and ever so soft and warm on the inside. So glad we decided to have our last dinner here at the Blue Moon before heading home.

This is a favorite place. Great French food and wine. The staff are super friendly, especially the French sommelier. But, the view of the ocean, pier and beach are awesome, especially at sunset. Avila Beach is a very cool, quaint place to hang out!

Right there facing the beach in Avila. Simple but excellent menu. All the food we had was excellent. I had clam chowder and a baked ham and cheese sandwich. My wife had the same sandwich and the French onion soup. All very good. Definitely will be back to try out the rest of the menu.

Fantastic romantic lunch and dinner place with great food! Had the Trio lunch with Cesar salad, French onion soup and ham/ cheese sandwich. French bread was lovely and the sea salt butter made it even better. I treat myself to a meal here on my monthly business trip to the area. Happy hour specials too!

One of the best places to eat in Avila. Had the champaign flight and charcuterie board as well as the lobster roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Well worth the price. Not to mention the outdoor seating overlooking the beach. Will definitely be back. ..oh and all of the staff were amazing and the owner was friendly greeting patrons and making sure everyone was enjoying their experience.

Reservations for Easter brunch. Had the flank steak, egg, & potatoes. Steak was a bit gristly. Service was excellent. We were disappointed in the seating. Most tall tables on the patio were empty, they all could view the ocean. They gave us the only low table on the patio, in a corner, no view.

This place is deceiving. The ratings were a draw. However, it's not what it's made out to be.
Had the Duck a L'orange. The potatoes were grainy, the duck cook was amateur at best, the service left plenty to be desired, and the views were hardly views at all. I'm actually very disappointed. Now, I will say I tend to be forgiving when a bistro like this makes up in any category. In this case, every aspect was found wanting.
If you're staying on or near by Avila beach, there are plenty of places to choose from that would not hit the bank as hard, and provide better satisfaction.

Such a beautiful restaurant and view! The Beef Bourgogne was a bit watery and heavy on the thyme. But the drinks were excellent. Lovely waitress but food came out before the drinks, so service was a bit off. Overall, would go back but mostly for the view of the ocean.
