Cool little restaurant and great seafood. Not the best for little kids, definitely more of an adult setting. I enjoy romantic date nights here more than a family dinner.

The clam chowder was good and the see through or should I say sea through tables are quite cool.

We'd been here before, years ago, and were happy to return. Everything is made fresh on site and the flavors are delightful.

This was possibly the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The waitress was condescending and extremely rude - She repeatedly told us that we should have made a reservation while the restaurant at 2:30 was almost empty. We ordered our expensive meals and when we asked her to check on our food around 3:00 she told us that we should have made a reservation again and that we should have gotten there before the large party next to us that she was not waiting on - so why? When our food finally came out we had to ask for silver ware and napkins,, there were 4 at our table and she brought 3 sets of silverware wrapped in cloth napkins - she said ‘I need another one’ and brought back paper napkin and silverware (did they run out of napkins?). Food was delivered and one person did not get the meal that was ordered, he told the waitress that he was missing part of his meal and her response “we talked about that do you want the steak?”. Finally we had all of the condescending remarks that we were willing to take and told her not to come back to the table. She said she would get the manager. She later came back and said “she” (the manager) would be with us shortly. Then a man shows up at our table and we explained what had happen and he apologized and said that she should not be rude to anyone then left. We heard the waitress say to someone “Are they happy now?”. We chose to pay for the bill at the bar and it was not correct and they removed a charge. The waitress was then overheard to say “they are old anyway”. Needless to say there was not a tip given because none was deserved. This was my first and only time to visit this restaurant.

Once upon a time, Olde Port Inn was one of the best restaurants on the Central Coast. Years ago they had a fish sandwich on grilled sourdough that was amazing. The sandwich is long gone as is any desire to return to Olde Port Inn. I love the history of this place but can't get past the overpriced mediocre food, the run down atmosphere, (the entire place looks like it's in need of a deep cleaning), the ripped, worn booths and in our latest try, the clueless and oft disappearing bartender. The customer next to us ordered an IPA and was given an almost black ale. The bartender insisted it was an IPA until the customer Googled the beer in question and it turned out the self appointed "beer expert" behind the bar couldn't have been more wrong. Excellent location but you'll get much better, not to mention less expensive food a few feet away at Merseas'.

My husband & I had never been to San Luis Obispo/Avila Beach and had no idea what to expect. We went out for a later dinner, not sure where we were going -- drove up the coast and found the Old Port. Still not sure if we'd land in the "drink", we ventured out onto the big old wooden Pier, and followed the signs to their little parking area. It seemed like a bit of a throw-back to old Cape Cod, or William Saroyan's California of decades past: red leather, candles on tables, tables where you can see down into the water, locals sitting around talking. We're not super fussy, as long as the food is fresh and no preservatives (I have food allergies). We've lived all over the world, and so know quality and great ambiance -- even if not super elegant. This was a wonderful experience. The food was yummy and abundant -- my husband and I shared the "Fisherman's Plate". It was actually quite a big dish for me, and sort of "old school", as the main dishes come with a nice, fresh salad to start. Their warm bread was delicious and freshly made. The waitress made us feel so welcome, even though it was getting later, and gave us an excellent "low-down" on the area, what goes on around, why she moved there years ago, etc. When we left after dinner, the seals were barking off on the buoys and piers nearby, and schools of fish swimming around in the lights. A true delight! We're still thinking about the Olde Port Inn and would love to go back.

Olde Port Inn was a great surprise. We had the swordfish special, stuffed prawns and scallops with calamari. Everything was fresh and amazing. The setting on the end of the pier can't be beat. Don't hesitate to come eat here.

The atmosphere was wonderful and the service was splendid! We sat at a table with an ocean view out the window and through the middle of our table in which we watched a sea otter frolic. The food was delicious and the dessert was outstanding!

Disappointed. Nice views. Had fish tacos. Were full of onions. Waitress rude that we didn't order off the main dinner menu.
