Rancid, dead animal smell from the kitchen, rude staff, long wait time. I was super nice to them and they just dgaf. Whoever the owner is needs to step in and do business right or sell this place to someone who will. This place USED. TO. BE. GOOD.

Kuma is a laid back little place that fits perfectly with the relaxed Los Osos beach town vibe.

Don't go here. Check the health inspectors webpage for SLO county. You'll see that this restaurant has one of the worst scores. Food left out, unhygienic, messy processes, pests, etc.
Great food and a fun indoor/outdoor dining experience

As a local I've eaten here over time. Lately it's gone down hill. Smaller portions, higher prices. Sadly, food quality suffering also, and worse service. 2 weeks ago we ordered appetizers and entrees. After a long wait, one appetizer came after the meal. What? The tempura we received was the wrong order, and it was very oily. Not appetizing. The entrees were nice, but noticeably small portions. The last and late appetizer was charred. Inedible. Disappointing for what was a fun local place. Finally, yesterday we went for the lunch special of teriyaki bowl and sashimi. We waited 20 minutes for drinks and another 20 for the food which came piecemeal. It's odd eating when you're friends food hasn't arrived. What's worse is when the food order arrives wrong. Again. Both orders! My friends asked for no peppers, I asked for no avocado... and we got both. So more waiting for a correct order. We won't be returning any time soon.
Kuma used to have high quality food. The last three times I’ve gone over the last year have been poor experience after poor experience. The sushi isn’t fresh. The avocado is old. They forget items in their bowls that are literally listed as included on the menu.
Positive is the staff is friendly and one of the times a manager knew they messed up and told me and were super nice about it.
That being said. Whoever owns this place has become complacent and it’s too overpriced for the lack of quality you’re getting. I’d recommend folks just go to the sushi place in MB instead.

I've been here multiple times. The actual restaurant is awesome. One room has local art that I loved starring at while eating. The outdoors have lit torches and blankets to cuddle with. Very fun and nice. The staff seem new but they're not rude, just awkward lol but they're great. The food is delish. For the most part everything ive gotten is interesting and well made. I love a funky sushi roll and they make well created rolls. Simple and good. My only issue is the price. Got take out yesterday, ordered 4 things and it was $85- $20 Ramen, 2 rolls and seaweed salad. Looked at the bag and thought thats its cuz the rolls were so small.
In all, nice restaurant and good food. Wouldn't do take out again just so I enjoy the food first before knowing how much im really spending.

I want so bad to love this place. Sushi in Los Osos is awesome idea. I live here and want sushi, it’s my favorite food. Unfortunately Kuma has let me down so many times. They have forgotten my order and I have sat waiting for my food for long periods only to find out they forgot to put the order in. The food is also very inconsistent, some times it tastes great and other times complete poop. Not sure why they can’t get it together. Please I’m want to like you.
