š® La Palapa ā Where Fajitas Get Their Groove
Went to La Palapa in Los Osos for dinner, and let me tell you, they passed my ultimate Mexican-restaurant test: the Fajitas Mixtas. Shrimp, chicken, and beef all sizzling together like a mariachi band, and none of that sad, bland chicken Iāve been disappointed by elsewhere. Nopeāthis chicken had seasoning, flavor, and personality.
Our server Monica deserves a gold medal in multitasking. For a while, she was the āLone Rangerā of La Palapa, handling seven tables at once with a smile and zero panic. She kept us in the loop the whole time, and honestly, I was impressedāif I tried that, Iād be crying in the walk-in cooler.
The restaurant sets the tone right at the door: āWeāre not fast-food, weāre good food.ā (Okay, maybe not in those exact words, but thatās the vibe). And they deliveredāfood came out in a timely fashion, piping hot, and worth every second.
The fajitas? Huge shrimp, generous portions of meat, and perfectly cooked. In addition, a generous portion of rice and beans was included. When given the choice between soup or salad, we shared the pozole. Pro tip: if youāre cilantro-averse (or genetically wired to think it tastes like soap), skip it. I personally loved it, but my partner gave me the stink eye with every bite. More for me, soā¦ win-win.
All in all, La Palapa nailed it AND they are a family owned business, which I love! Great food, excellent service under pressure, and fajitas that sing. Iād happily go backāespecially if Monicaās working, cape and all.

Holiday weekend and they were able to make us very happy. The Chile Verde and the Garlic Shrimp were delicious. I especially like the sauted vegetables that were an option. The salad that came with the meal was lovely, as were the chips and salsa. Lots of leftovers to take home and enjoy the next day.

The waiter recommended the piƱa colada and he was not wrong. It was so yummy. We ordered the fajita tostada (without the shell) and a combination plate with enchilada and tamale. Everything was delicious. We will be back.

We stayed at the Baywood Inn and La Palapa provided the breakfast for hotel guests only. The Chili Verde omelette was the best I've ever tasted. Ever.
My husband and I hosted a rehearsal dinner here a few weeks ago and it was perfect! From the get go, Monica was easy to reach out to, accommodating and went over and above what she said she would do!

I love coming here, the food is always amazing and thereās always service with a smile. I was in a bind and needed catering ASAP. I called Jose and Monica and they were so accommodating and reasonable with their prices. Iām so appreciative of how quickly they responded and how they got everything that I wanted Together in such a short time. The food was excellent and I had people asking me where I got the food and they couldnāt stop raving about how good my food was for a week after my event. I I highly recommend eating here all the time and I especially recommend using them for catering service. They are amazing!
