The chile verde plate i ordered was bomb! My girl loved the enchiladas plate.
My little girl also loved the caldo de res bowl. Will definitely be coming again soon!

The last time I ate at this restaurant was when it was still called El Picante back in 1999. I remembered what a great family restaurant this was. Today (2025), passing through Bell Gardens, we decided to eat there.

It has changed ownership and is now called Encanto.

The food was as great as it was in 1999! Best ice tea in all of Bell Gardens!

If your in the area, you can't go wrong. Supper friendly staff!

I highly recommended el Encanto Family Restaurant. Aside from the prompt and excellent service, the carne asada plate was delicious. Oh, and the café de olla was perfect. I am definitely returning to this spot often.

I’ve been coming to this location for 40 plus years. I stopped coming about a year ago because it unfortunately steadily went downhill since the owner Mario and his son Mario Jr. Passed. Now it under New Ownership and Management and I can say I’m Back , Food is Great . Menudo and Pozole Superb. Tortillas Hecho A Mano. I will be a Regular Customer Again.

Their food was sooo good. Ive lived in South Gate since 1978, and have been passing this establishment for a very long time, deciding, FINALLY to go in and try their food.
I will DEFINITELY be re returning. The food was delicious. And it had a homemade feel to it. The atmosphere and wait staff was was very professional and helpful as well. I'll definitely be coming back. Thank you to everyone who works there.

We rented the hall they have behind the restaurant and it was a very nice place. Big and roomy. The owners are very attentive and make sure everything is ok for your event. I highly recommend this hall for your party or event needs.

Wish I could give it 10 stars, we came to find out the place was just recently bought, so we hesitate to stay and oh wow, what a pleasant surprise the new owner Ernesto was so attentive and really engaging with everyone there, food was phenomenal from the chile relleno, the sopes and my garlic shrimp, we stopped here for the iced tea the old restaurant had before and we are in love with the new recipe, I would even dare to say it's even better, the place is still working on renovations (thats why I could give it 5 stars there) but you can tell by the excitement they talk about, it its going to be the hottest place soon, what they are doing with the Banquet Hall is so beautiful I bet everyone will want to have their venues there, my wife and I will definitely be back with all our kids and maybe, why not, even celebrate our next anniversary here.
Congrats to the new owners on a job, I can tell so far, well done.

This morning, I had breakfast at El Encanto (El Picante previous location) a New Mexican restaurant, and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the service was top-notch. I'll be back. Support small small businesses!

I recently visited the restaurant after learning it’s under new ownership, and I was pleasantly surprised! Upon entering, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and the new owners. The food and service were great- I'll definitely be returning! While I was there, I discovered they have a hall next door available for special occasions, complete with catering services. If you’re in the mood for some good Mexican food, I highly recommend checking out this gem!

Usually they are good, but this delivered order was missing a lot on veggie toastada.

Vegetarian options: Veg toastada does not have what their menu says it does, nor does the description on Doordash match. Avocado was also missing & no beans. So disappointed.
