Professional Review – 6939-B Eastern Ave, Bell Gardens, CA 90201 (Subway) 11/19/25
I am submitting this review to document a serious food-safety concern I experienced during my recent visit to this Subway location.
During my visit, I was assisted by an employee named Vicky. I normally receive great service from another sandwich artist who was helping a different customer at the time, but on this occasion, Vicky stepped in.
Shortly before preparing my order, Vicky had been handling money. She then went to the back of the store and returned to the food-prep area. At no point did she wash her hands before putting on gloves. After I told her my order, she grabbed a loaf of bread and then paused to put away other items that were sitting out on the counter. She completed those tasks while still wearing the same gloves and then immediately returned to handling my sandwich ingredients.
I explained to her that health code standards require removing contaminated gloves, washing hands, and regloving before touching food again. Vicky stated that the items she touched were “clean,” but regardless, the gloves were no longer sanitary once they made contact with anything outside of active food prep.
Instead of restarting the process correctly, she rolled her eyes, placed the contaminated loaf of bread back into the heated holding cabinet, took a new loaf using the same dirty gloves, set it on the counter, removed the gloves, put on new ones, and continued preparing the sandwich—all still without washing her hands. I informed her again that I did not want her preparing my food unless she washed her hands and restarted the process properly. She claimed she had already washed her hands, even though I had been watching the entire time and saw that she had not.
At that point, I requested that the other sandwich artist continue my order.
This location urgently needs to address food-safety training and compliance. Cross-contamination is not a small issue; it can cause customers to become seriously ill. I will be filing a report with the appropriate health authorities so that this matter can be properly reviewed.
I hope management will take this incident seriously and ensure that all employees consistently follow required health and sanitation protocols.

The worst customer service. I walked in for my mobile order and this female employee was at the cashier mind you she doesn’t greet me or nothing as I walk up to her she looks up at me and then proceeds to look away doesn’t bother to ask me what she can help me with. I then tell her I’m here for my mobile order and as she’s turning around to look for the order she rolls her eyes at me! I seriously don’t understand what her issue was. First & last time coming to this location.

The franchise or corporate need to go back to the original portion sizes on the meat. Still a good sub; but if you order a Philly you expect more than what I've got. Maybe it's a West Coast thing

This is the worst subway i ordered. This subway is robbing people they overcharged me. I have ordered a spicy nachos chicken sub, which they billed me for a spicy nachos steak sub. Shame on you subway. I won't go to this place again and i will ask my friends to stop going here.

Alexa helped me, it seemed like she didn't want to be there, she answered annoyed, I decided not to order my sandwich and wait to ask the other person who was serving me. And the other person serving me was very kind
