09/27/20 Murph’s Gaslight Resturant, established in 1976, will close it’s doors this evening for the last time, at least at this location. Over the years we have celebrated a lot of family birthdays here and other times as well where we always enjoyed those great family style chicken dinners that Murph’s was so famous for. Just the way mom used to do it in the 50s and 60s. There were plates of hot fried chicken, bowls of mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, biscuits and butter. Lots of food, more then you could possibly eat, and always a of lot laughter with family around you, drawn into this relaxed moment. Not sure what will happen in the future but can’t help feeling nostalgic when reminiscing the great times we’ve had over the past 20 years at this very special, one of a kind, restaurant. ?
With great sadness we said farewell to Josh and his wonderful team this Sunday. Murphs was a staple for the "BEST FRIED CHICKEN". In fact, when you said Murphs, people would say - oh, you mean the fried chicken place! Not only great for fried chicken, but great conversation in the bar with the patrons. We met a lot of great people there and heard some amazing stories.Sorry to see you go Murphs
Josh was great. Wonderful, old school vibe. Crowd definitely leans conservative, which I love. Food was top notch. Wife had pan fried chicken, and I enjoyed the chicken club sandwich. God, cold beer. We will be back next time we visit the area!
Ordered from here based on recommendations of others we know. Sadly very disappointed. Ribs were just ribs slathered with a little flavor BBQ sauce. Coleslaw had no flavor whatsoever. Chicken - meh, especially since some pieces were darkly cooked while others were light. BBQ beans were ok. Potatoes were ok. Gravy was just gross, more like chicken soup or something but it also had no flavor. Biggest gripe is that after confirming what we ordered, including the Chablis bottle of wine - no wine made it home in our take out bag! Meaning..........another trip here, which is out of our way, or ?????In addition, husband noticed that the bar in this place appeared to be open with people sitting in there and no one, including staff here, wearing a mask. Isn't this counter to State of California COVID-19 rules? What does that say about this place? They don't care about their staff OR their customers?Nope, average at best and below that really.
This was a few weeks ago but I'm still grossed out. I ordered food for pickup at 5:45. Walked in and the bartender came out with no mask and made a snarky remark about the fact that I was wearing a mask. Then he took my credit card and disappeared. I waited for about 10 minutes while 80% of the people coming and going weren't wearing masks. Finally, someone who appeared to be the busboy it dishwasher came out without a mask to get my signature on the credit card receipt.I got home (5 minutes away) to find the mashed potatoes were cold, the "salad" was some iceberg lettuce with a beer slice on top and the dessert was a tasteless, miniscule piece of cake with some canned peaches on top. The chicken warmed up nicely in the air fryer so that was salvageable.I've eaten there dozens of times and really wanted to support this restaurant.
Best Pan Fried Chicken Ever !!!!
The place is old and dirty. The men's bathroom sink looks like it had mildew growing around it and the countertop was cracked. Men's bathroom door hasn't been cleaned for awhile. Service was incredibly slow, supposedly they were understaffed. The food is on par with cheap cafeteria fair. Their chicken was decent but Popeye's and KFC's are better. For dessert I got a canned peach and a small piece of cake. I won't go back.
Great place for families to have dinner home style. And has great staff to be of help. Very attractive
Delicious fried chicken. We went in on Friday night at 8:30 and they had already shut down the kitchen. Went back on Saturday afternoon. Dining room opens at 5 but they serve food in the bar.. yay. Happy birthday lunch to me before a concert.

Great service and have some good coupons on line. Nice little out of the way restaurant. Their staple is fried chicken with all the fixins
Went here over Christmas break visiting family. Great service! Excellent food and atmosphere.Family friendly
Left before we could eat anything. Ordered sodas....no carbonation. Bartender too busy to take our food order standing around talking with the "regular" drunks. Really wanted to try their fried chicken. Disappointed!!!
Great food. There was a bit of a wait due to a large party. Omg there was so much food. And the 4 course meal. Will be going back next time we are out that way.
Fantastic, enough food to last days. A must when you're in the Desert.
