I stopped at Il Pastaio on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 with my sister after a long meeting, hoping to treat ourselves. Unfortunately, the experience was the opposite of relaxing. We were seated outside by a new Italian waiter who was noticeably rude from the start.
We ordered a veggie salad and the veal plate. When the bill came, I drew a line through the tip section and wrote “cash,” then left a 20% tip in cash. Later, I discovered the server added an extra $21 to my card, giving himself a $41 tip. That is completely unacceptable and feels like theft.
To make matters worse, both my sister and I became very sick after eating the veal. I reached out to the restaurant by phone and email, but they showed no concern and made no effort to address the situation. For a place in Beverly Hills, where I was born and raised, it’s sad to see such disregard for patrons.

Il Pastaio is a must for classic Italian done right. The pasta is incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked, with rich, authentic flavors that feel both comforting and elevated. The lively Beverly Hills atmosphere adds to the experience, making it just as great for people-watching as it is for the food. Always a go-to for a satisfying, memorable meal. Another patron recommended the Justin Beiber pasta and it was fantastic. We came to celebrate and we sure did. Love it here.

Visited many times and always had somehow unpleasant experience with service, still tipping more than 20% all the time out of respect. This time was the worst experience by far. 30 minutes of waiting to get menu, another 30 to order, another 30 to ask for a checkout, another 30 to finally pay. Even after coming up. Food tastes good, but had hair in it in multiple dishes. Awful table arrangement, and constant troubles with spills, drops, bumping into chairs and tables.
Food tastes alright and has alright prices, fast preparation time. Current waiters don't deserve a single dime compared to their chefs, which still can drop a hair or two in your food. Won't ever go again nor recommend
One of the best places for Italian cuisine in Beverly Hills. The salads and the tiramisu are outstanding. The service is excellent. It’s a good idea to make a reservation in advance. Highly recommended. 🇮🇹🍝

I used to come here every Friday and always looked forward to the meals. The shrimp used to be large, flavorful, and consistently well prepared.
Unfortunately, over the last few visits the quality seems to have declined. The shrimp portions have gotten noticeably smaller and the flavor just isn’t the same as it used to be.
It almost feels like there may have been a change in the kitchen or how the food is being prepared. I’m disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite spots.
I hope the quality improves, but based on my recent experiences I’m not sure I’ll be coming back.
