A perfect neighborhood Italian restaurant close to The Wallis Theater for before or after performance meals.

Our salads were confused and given to the wrong person. I didn't want to disrupt our fun evening or embarrass my friend who was loving my meal. Just be sure in future. Otherwise our early dinner was a pleasure, as always. Thanks goodness for the old school dependables in BH!

Delicious food. Ortolano soup was piping hot. The chopped salad is always wonderful. The chicken parmigiana was amazing. Huge portions.

We chose to dine at La Scala in advance of attending a concert at the Wallis Annenberg Center conveniently located a couple of blocks away. We were seated promptly and presented with menus. Our order was taken quickly and the night's specials made the task of selecting our dinner entrees more difficult. We opted to share a half La Scala salad and then we ordered the Eggplant Parmesan (appetizer portion which was large enough to be an entre. The La Scala salad was disappointing. Though a very nice portion which was more than enough to be shared by two, the lettuce in it was brown and wilted. Having had that salad before at La Scala, it tasted like the lettuce was left over from the lunch service or service the night before. It had no crunch or texture. My wife really enjoyed the eggplant and noted the very fresh and tasty pomodoro sauce served with it. I opted for the swordfish which was a good choice and an ample portion. The swordfish sat on three strips of deep fried battered zucchini and a mixed salad with a vinaegrette dressing. It was an odd combination. The combination of the hot swordfish on top of the hot and oily fried zucchini slices wilted the salad making it neither palatable nor appetizing. Though we asked about swapping out the salad for veggies or potatoes, we were told that there were no substitutions allowed. So that was that. Should I order it again I would be inclined to tell them to leave off the salad under the swordfish and the fried zucchini completely. It would still be worth the price. Dessert was carrot cake. Very large layers of cream cheese frosting on top and between the two layers. Not much cake. But it was enough to share. Men's bathroom was not very clean which was surprising but then again maybe not.

Extremely disappointing experience. My mother has a food allergy; when her dish arrived with the allergen, the manager Kenne Hoffman refused to replace it or adjust the bill. He told her to eat it, and he doesn’t care about her allergy. He dismissed our concerns and made racially biased remarks. Unprofessional and unacceptable.

My parents visited this restaurant today and had an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience.

When ordering, my mother forgot to mention her allergy to certain herbs, and the waitress did not ask about allergies. When the dish arrived containing the allergens, they politely requested a replacement or adjustment. The staff refused, stating it was her responsibility to notify them in advance. They also refused to adjust or remove the cost from the bill, so my father ended up paying for the meal despite the issue.

When they asked to speak with a manager, a man who appeared to be the owner came after about 20 minutes (Kenne Hoffman - Director of Operations). Instead of addressing the concern professionally, he dismissed their claims, accused them of lying, and reportedly made remarks that suggested racial bias.

The combination of refusal to accommodate a serious allergy, unwillingness to adjust the bill, and discriminatory treatment makes this restaurant unacceptable. Customers should not have to endure rude behavior or discrimination while dining.

La Scala has decor that is always truly classical with a feel for the season. Staff goes through great lengths to make whatever current holiday is well reflected throughout the restaurant. Thank you La Scala. And thank you for incorporating Grass fed beef into your menu. Its greatly appreciated.

The cocktails, appetizers, food and deserts were all excellent. The service was great for our group of 10 guests. I love the beautiful, cozy setting of the restaurant. It's a neighborhood gem.
