Our experience was ruined by Meghan (the manager), who upon an accidental spill decided to cut us off. We were speaking a foreign language as we are tourists, and her insensitive and hostile behaviour ruined our night. She has what the youngsters would call “karen” energy.

Our meal at Matu in Beverly Hills was outstanding and truly memorable. We eat halal, and it was great to discover that Matu serves exclusively halal, grass-fed First Light Farms Wagyu beef from New Zealand. We ordered the ribeye, New York strip, fries, Japanese Caesar, and skewers. Every steak was cooked perfectly - juicy, tender, and richly flavorful. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned, the Japanese Caesar was fresh and delicious, and the skewers were my wife’s favorite and added an extra savory touch.
The restaurant’s atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it ideal for a relaxing night out. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the manager went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. Their genuine hospitality made our visit even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a halal-friendly steakhouse with excellent food and great service, Matu is a fantastic choice in Beverly Hills.

From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone: dim, modern, and inviting without feeling overly formal. The service is sharp and attentive, but what really made the experience special was the guidance from Noni, the food runner. She didn’t just drop off plates, she enhanced the meal. Her recommendation of the lobster tails turned out to be one of the best decisions of the night.

Nice place, good vibes and excellent service. Love the mixed drinks. We ordered ala carte menu. The prix fix menu had very small portion of the beef. For meat lovers, I recommend this restaurant. Must try when in Beverly Hills. They have valet or park across the street, 2 hrs free before 6pm or $5 flat after 6pm. Open sitting at the bar. You can only order the Philly cheesesteak sandwich at the bar or you can the prix fix for 4 at the table. Reservation is recommended. Loved this place!!!

Very busy, very noisy, cramped tables. Lovely staff, no tipping rule which is welcome. Food is mediocre. Slow cooked beef is great. Steaks were on the tough side, cut against the grain!? What’s that about? And surprisingly bland. Made a big thing about the steaks but very mediocre. Good wine, lovely staff but food all a bit tasteless

I had an excellent experience. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere had a great vibe-relaxed but lively. The food was outstanding. the meat was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and the side dishes complemented it really well. The drinks were also a highlight— perfectly made and delicious. Overall, everything felt well done and thoughtfully prepared. I’ll definitely be coming back

The flavors!! LOVE the tasting option so much. We will definitely have to come back and try more of their dishes. We made reservations online and didn't have to wait at all when we arrived.
We ordered the Matu dinner for two with an extra side of garlic bread. The bread came out with the tartar and it was all so delicious. The filet was my favorite.
From the bone broth to the final course ... the timing of everything was spaced out perfectly as well.
The vibe is chic and the service was attentive. Highly recommend making the drive if you're not nearby.

Lunch seating is only at the bar, so there can be a wait but service is quick they said 30min but called me in 15min.
Came for the Philly cheesesteak. Meat and bread are fantastic great quality. But I don't think it's the best philly sandwitch in LA.
Would return if in the area but would not travel for this sandwich.

I’m from New Jersey, where cheesesteaks are already top-tier, so my expectations were high but the Wagyu cheesesteak from Matū absolutely blew me away. I had it delivered, and it still showed up hot, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The bread was soft but held together beautifully, the onions were caramelized just right, and the Wagyu beef was unbelievably tender and flavorful. You can really taste the quality in every bite. The cheese and roasted pepper added the perfect finishing touch. Even compared to the great East Coast spots I’ve had, this one stands out. This cheesesteak didn’t make me feel heavy after eating it.

Pro tip: There are only about 8-10 seats at the bar, which is the only place you can order the lunch menu so get there early! The sandwich was delicious, the chips were just okay, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back!
