Another dining institution in LA. The Beverly Hills Hotel and the Polo Lounge are old school super luxe. They scream opulence and it’s very much an occasion place to dine. The service is impeccable.
I ordered the seafood salad which came with generous amounts of grab, lobster and prawns. The portion size was huge so worth the USD 68. I was dining solo but also a good option to share.
The patio area is lovely and well-shaded.
It feels like part of a movie set and is definitely something to experience.
Dress for the occasion - everyone was really nicely dressed, definitely above the ‘smart casual’ listed on the website.

Iconic setting, great food and service!
Incredibly kind, attentive server, wonderful food and a relaxing outdoor setting for a Sunday night birthday dinner. The souffle with 'Happy birthday' and candle was a super sweet touch. Thank you!
Impeccable service and a gorgeous, historic hotel. Would definitely recommend out of towners stopping by to get a taste of old LA glamor.
We had high hopes for the Polo Lounge, but the experience didn’t live up to the Beverly Hills reputation. The setting is charming and the sommelier was genuinely delightful—friendly, knowledgeable, and easily the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, everything after her visit took a downturn.
After she poured the first round of our sparkling wine, we were left staring at our empty glasses for over 10 minutes while the bottle sat untouched in an ice bucket placed at the far end of our large round table—completely out of reach. No one came to check on us or offer a refill. It was awkward and frankly baffling at a restaurant of this supposed caliber.
Our server was cold and dismissive, only mentioning the specials after we asked—and even then, they weren’t the same ones other tables were offered. There was a judgmental attitude about our order that made the whole experience feel uncomfortable instead of welcoming.
The food itself was aggressively over-seasoned and not particularly memorable. And the ambiance was further soured by unsettling activity in the restrooms, where it seemed like people were conducting… other types of business. Not what you expect—or want—in a high-end dining experience.
The Polo Lounge may still be riding on its old Hollywood name, but when it comes to actual hospitality and quality, it fell disappointingly short.
A world-famous restaurant, and not even ridiculously too expensive. The food is plentiful and you'll be full, which isn't something you can say about every celebrity restaurant in Beverly Hills (Spago). The service and staff are fantastic and first class. tasteful live music. I thought it was excessive whether you really had to pay an extra $25 just for parking. But otherwise and all in all a visit (and the memories!) are worth the money.
Letting you know that if you are wearing shorts, you are not allowed after 4pm because receptionists don’t bother to inform you about dress code when you are making a reservation for 5pm.
On my bucket list to have a drink in the Polo Lounge. My friend and i arrived informing the hostess we were there for drinks and appetizers, should we sit at bar? She said yes, sit at the bar. We must have sat there for about 10 minutes, not one bartender, never saw one. No hostess checked on us. I finally went back to hostess and asked if we could have a table since no one was attending to us at bar. She told me we could not be seated at a table since we there only for drinks and appetizers and it was not 3:00 pm (it was approximately 2:20). Went back to bar for a few minutes longer, totally feeling ignored. We finally left. The hostess saw us leaving and didn't even try to find out why. So disappointed. Just 2 friends who love the history of Hollywood and have always wanted to visit the Polo Lounge only to be ignored and disappointed.
If you're grabbing breakfast, you'll probably find better choices. It's got a nice vibe, though.

Originally opened in 1941 the Polo Lounge is one of the most famous restaurants in Los Angeles. Countless important people and celebrities have eaten here over the years and you can really tell that the walls have seen a lot of history. As many other reviewers will mention this place is hard to beat in terms of atmosphere. It’s located inside the classy Beverly Hills Hotel in beautiful Beverly Hills. It’s formal but more business casual, and the sort of place that would be really fun to bring a date. It is very lively and not the sort of place for kids as they have a full service bar and lots of people dressing up, chatting, and is almost high energy. It’s very large on the inside and designed well in a classic California style. There are many different seating sections such as the bar area, the main dining room (which is my favorite), and outdoor seating. There is no self parking available so it will be valet parking for $22. The initial charge is $25 but if you get your ticket validated it drops it to $22. Our waitress was very polite and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. The only downside to this restaurant is the exorbitant pricing. Everything here is priced more than you will pay even in coastal Santa Monica. That being said it’s very hard to budget a meal here and is best used for a place to celebrate or just grab a few drinks.
There are many famous dishes here and it’s always hard to choose what to order. For this visit, we started with the Tortilla Soup and the McCarthy Salad. The Tortilla Soup was very good, almost had a roasted flavor to it, but I enjoyed it very much. The McCarthy Salad is also very famous and is definitely one of the best chop salads that I’ve ever had. I think it’s probably the third most famous salad from Los Angeles after the Cobb and the La Scala Chopped. For my entrée, I chose the Branzino Fillet Unilateral accompanied with fregola sarda, roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes, zante currants, pine nuts, lemon caper sauce. I honestly really enjoyed it and thought it was a good sized portion. It was a large fillet, had great flavors, and was cooked perfectly. Finally for dessert I ordered their famous Soufflé and I decided to do a chocolate and vanilla combination, which I would highly recommend. It’s honestly one of the best Soufflés that I’ve ever had.
Everything about this place is amazing except the pricing. I would recommend to anyone searching for a special occasion lunch or dinner spot and obviously to anyone who is staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It’s not the sort of place to go if you have a tight budget, but I believe that everyone should dine at this place at least once.
Quite possibly the best drink I have ever had. When they talk about “experience” this is the example. An amazing experience worth every penny.

Overpriced and Underwhelming, But Pretty Decor
I left the Beverly Hilton to try breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel, excited to try their supposedly classic eggs Benedict. Unfortunately, it was a major letdown. The eggs Benedict was mediocre, served with hash browns that tasted like they’d been sheet-pan baked and reheated, alongside a single, cold roasted tomato. For the price and hype, I expected much more.
To top it off, parking “validation” turned out to be just a discount, leaving me with a $22 charge for less than an hour’s stay. The decor was pretty—it’s got that going for it—but spending over $100 (with a cocktail) on this experience was disappointing. Not impressed and wouldn’t recommend it.
Washed it down with some whiskey. ?☕️
