WHAT A FIASCO !!! Booked my husband's SURPRISE Birthday dinner for 10 people last Friday. His family coming in from Mexico and daughter from NY. Heard about TATEL it was supposed to be both beautiful with great SPANISH style food. RECEIVED BOTH TEXT + EMAIL CONFIRMATION, and responded to both. Only to find out this restaurant is CLOSED!!!!! WOW what a disaster on both OPEN TABLE and TATEL to accept reservations. Even the phone line said they were accepting reservations!! I AM SHOCKED no one else has complained. Very un-professional as we had to scramble to find another place for our dinner for 10 at the last minute and ruined the entire surprise aspect.
This was my 2nd time at Tatel. I came 2 yrs ago and would have given 5 stars all around. Huge disappointment this time! We sat out on the terrace which was lovely. Service was great but the food was fair. The biggest disappointment was the world famous cheesecake, it was completely different than 2 years ago. This time it was like a traditional New York cheesecake out of a box with a thick crust. Even the pictures 2 years ago look very different than yesterday. The paella was just fair with the bland shrimp placed on top. The portion of the spanish tortillia was half the size of what it was 2 years ago. The prices was justified 2 years ago because of the quality and amount but this time way over priced for the mediocre quality and portions. The menu was missing many items than what was listed on the website. Will not be returning!

Food was NOT good. Paella was inedible. Octopus was YUCK! We spoke to the manager who took some $ off the bill and gave us free dessert. But I'll never go back. Sadly. First time I went it was delicious.
Bland Spanish tortilla, missing salt and onions must be caramelized for more sweetness. The beef carpaccio and octopus were ok. The croquetas de setas were the best of the night. The paellas were below average. The rice was over cooked and mushy, with little flavor, and there was no socarrat. I have been to Tatel Madrid, which is spectacular, but the LA location pales in comparison. I do not believe the Spanish ownership could stand behind the quality and execution of the dishes. Good service and nice cocktails. The back patio has a DJ and turns into a nightclub in the evening which is fun for a drink after dinner.

The bone marrow steak tartare is INSANE. The grilled octopus is also a fantastic choice. The staff, Omar and Fischer are the my favorite hosts in Beverly Hills. Chat them up and have the best night.

The place was very beautiful but the food was just ok. Our lamb chops were very dry and overcooked and everything lacked flavor for the most part. The drinks were great though and the service was great. Not sure if I'll be back.
A Hidden Gem with Amazing Tapas at Tatel Beverly Hills
As someone who began my career with the Real Federación Española de Tenis in Spain and knows Rafael Nadal, writing about Tatel Beverly Hills is a pleasure. Despite not having the most brilliant ambiance and lacking a large crowd, the food at Tatel is truly amazing.
The atmosphere is pleasant, although it may not be the most dazzling in terms of décor and crowd size. However, the service is impeccable – attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable.
We enjoyed a delightful array of tapas that showcased the authentic flavors of Spain:
Croquetas de Jamón Ibérico: Deliciously creamy with a perfect balance of flavors.
Croquetas de Boletus (Forest Mushrooms): Rich and earthy, a wonderful treat for mushroom lovers.
Gambas al Ajillo: Wild-caught shrimp cooked with garlic, TATEL EVOO, and Fresno chili, served with bread. The shrimp were tender and packed with flavor.
Tortilla TATEL: Their classic truffled omelette, which was a standout with its rich, savory taste. Perhaps a bit too much truffle oil; a little less would be better. It's not necessary to enhance the truffle flavor in the Spanish omelette so much, and certainly not to use so much of it.
Roasted Organic Beet Salad: Fresh and vibrant, a perfect complement to the other tapas.
Instead of wine, we paired our meal with Estrella Galicia and Estrella Damm (Barcelona). These beers were an excellent match for the tapas, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Tatel Beverly Hills is a hidden gem that deserves more recognition. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, and the location is prime. It's puzzling why it's not more popular, but perhaps that's part of its charm. For those looking to enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine in Beverly Hills, Tatel is a must-visit.

This restaurant had great service and wait staff but the food fell flat overall. The sangria tasted great, most of the food was acceptable but the paella was a huge let down as it was so salty that we had to send it back. The risotto was made with pasta and not with rice. I left feeling disappointed.
