Walked in ready from travel, no greeting or questions for service, went to use restroom before ordering a treat for the road only to read a sign stating there were bathrooms available down the highway that are paid for by taxes, no river access unless you rent for 200$ nightly and no dogs allowed on patio. Did not order, staff very rude and no longer one of my favorite places, so sad

Excellent bacon on the BLT, very very good chocolate chip cookie, and sitting on the patio by the rushing river was very soothing.

My wife and I recently stayed at Strawhouse and had a really relaxing time. The studio we stayed in was super clean. The river out front is absolutely beautiful, I ended up catching a bunch of rainbow trout right from the property, which was a highlight for me.

We also ate at the café and I have to say, I’m not usually a pizza person, but I’m genuinely obsessed with their pulled pork pizza. The way they made it just hit different, I kept wanting more. The menu is pretty limited. Everyone we interacted with was super kind and friendly, and check-in was smooth and easy.

All in all, a great little getaway spot. Thanks again, Strawhouse!

We stopped by this location to try their pizza and lattes, and we were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it was there. We got a chance to meet the owners as well. Don and Julie. Such amazing people! We are looking forward to going back and staying longer.

The owners and staff go the extra mile to make guests feel comfortable and at home. The Cabins are clean and well equipped with everything one might need. The large patio has misters for the warm days and heaters for cool ones. The river has a wonderful lulling effect to make relaxing a breeze. The food is affordable and delicious, however, the cabin kitchens have everything if your preference is to cook your own and there are outside BBQs as well. There is swimming, hiking and rafting nearby and the cabins have a binder of activities with maps and numbers to reserve trips.

An oasis on the river. I love places like this. They seemed to be carved out of land and built with love. Must stop location!

Great place to stop at for a quick bite and coffee while driving on the 299. They have a beautiful deck overlooking the Trinity river. I didn't stay here so can't comment on the rooms.

This is a darn near perfect place for some rest and relaxation. We came in Easter weekend. Great weather, no crowds. Plenty of options to hike and during the season, fish. I assume during that that time they are much busier. The owners are very nice and accommodating. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back.

Incredible place! So beautiful and relaxing. Our stay in the Blue Heron far exceeded our expectations! The house was immaculate and a very well equipped kitchen.
The chai latte was the best I have ever had and the breakfast bars were so good!
Don and Julia were a delight to meet.

Don and Julia were fantastic hosts for our wedding anniversary and family reunion, because of their warm hospitality and exceptional service. My husband and I got married at Stawhouse 10 years ago and nothing has changed! The food and accommodations are still amazing. The river is serene and the coffee is delicious! The icing to our vacation was having our daughters with us. They loved strawhouse as much as we do. We hope to come back soon! It’s truly a one of kind place.

Rooms: There are a variety of housing options. For a family of 4, two adults and two small children, the cabin is a perfect option. There is a loft upstairs and a bedroom on the first floor.

A small house with several rooms accommodated our parents and grandmother.

RV is offered on site

A really awesome yurt is available as well.

Nearby activities: We did white water rafting with the company next door.

The river is glorious and has chairs that you can utilize.

Other activities are offered on site but we did not use them.

Walkability: We were able to walk to the adjacent rafting company.

Food and drinks: Coffee, specialty coffee drinks, food, and other non coffee drinks were available.

The patio is wonderful area to have meals with friends and family.

We have stayed for a week at the Straw House cabins on the river for the last 6 years. It is a great location. Cabins are clean and cozy with an excellent view of the river and grounds. The patio at the restaurant is perfect, because it allows great a wonderful view of the river and is peaceful and relaxing. The food and service is very good and the people are wonderful.
