Beautiful restaurant. I liked the picture with the foxes in the bar.

History of this amazing place warrants a beautiful entry while walking into the lobby and dining area. Missing . A tale and story board of the history, telling of the souls who walked prior who had a part in shaping that story. Perhaps historic pictures on the walls. All of that is missing. This resort deserves its story be told and rich history appreciated. 2024 Historical Site was noted.

Good but not amazing. For the remote location, above average. Steak was tasty. Chocolate cake was a highlight.

Went to brunch on Saturday morning as they are only open for brunch Friday through Sunday. It was a cozy vibe getting to sit outside on a beautiful day. Quick to take order and bring coloring sheets for kids which was nice. Food was good and portions are fair. Kids menu items are around $10 while regular menu items are around $20 for brunch. Would go back again!

I have had some amazing dishes (pork chop) and not so amazing (chicken Oscar). Have been here many times and will keep coming back. Great resort all around! The caprese salad had a great presentation although the tomatoes were lacking in flavor a bit. The mushroom risotto is excellent!

Despite having a reservation and arriving on time, we were forced to wait at the entrance for about 10 minutes before anyone greeted us, let alone sat us. While speaking with the host, we were interrupted by a hotel employee who informed the host of a possible break-in onsite which should be a conversation held privately. Once seated, our waitress checked on the table maybe three times over the span of 2+ hours. Our drinks were constantly empty and had no way to order more. Of the two steaks ordered at the table (requested medium rare), both steaks came out extremely well done. 15 minutes later, they overcorrected and provided rare steaks but we were too hungry and frustrated to send it back. I highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

Food is very good and a bit pricey. Limited options at lunch. Plenty of seating inside and out. On site parking. Staff were quick, friendly and accommodating. Worth a stop.

I was really excited to try this restaurant based on their expansive vegetarian menu. Unfortunately, I did not get to.I was in the area on a Tuesday night. I tried calling ahead of time, but was not able to get a hold of anyone in the restaurant. My purpose for calling was to ensure the patio was open.Instead I just went, right at 5pm when dinner service was starting per their website, and told that the only time they have available is at 7:45. No where on the website does it mention that reservations are required nor does it offer a means to schedule a reservation. The parking lot was not very full, and again I arrived exactly when it was supposed to have opened so it seemed extremely unlikely that it was packed. My presumption based on the other reviews is they dont have staffing to operate like a full functioning restaurant.

On our trip to Borrego Springs, we stopped in for lunch at 1pm on a Saturday. While we were somewhat promptly seated, as there only seemed to be about 5 other tables with parties, our food took about 45 minutes to arrive. We ordered two orders of the fish and chips and the club sandwich with a request for a meat substitution. Once our food finally arrived, our fish and chips were cold, as if they'd been on the line for awhile, and the club sandwich came with the wrong meat subbed in. I eventually flagged down a food runner and told them about the situation. The food runner offered to fix the sandwich, but we were hungry and did not want to wait another 45 minutes for another cold sandwich. We were super disappointed with the wait time and the food mistake, and would have been fine with both issues if we had been given a heads up that they were short staffed, couldn't do the substitution, and that the food would take a while. A few days later, I called and asked to speak with a manager, and they told me the manager was not in that day. I told them that I would have appreciated a heads up about the food taking a little while and the fact that they were obviously short staffed, but they said "they are not allowed to say that", which only added to my frustration. They transferred me to the manager's voicemail, and I left a message gently explaining the situation. They have yet to call me back. Overall an extremely disappointing experience with an inn I've stayed at numerous times before.

Staying at the resort so decided to eat on-site. Waited several minutes in a near empty restaurant and no staff visible before asking the bartender what we had to do to get seated. He left to get someone, who arrived 15 mins later. Poor girl seemed to be working alone - an experienced waitress would be able to manage fine, but she clearly wasn't experienced. Took a long time to get anything. In the end the Food was good, but we won't eat here again.

Recently dined at the Fox Bistro for a birthday dinner and was so pleasantly surprised! Food was delicious and creative, including a lovely, complimentary birthday dessert! Service was friendly, competent and unhurried. Very happy we decided to celebrate there.

We made reservations and the woman on the phone told us 6:30 was our best option as the hotel was packed. I think there were 4 other tables there, so obviously they were short staffed. We ordered a bottle of Matua, in which they charge a whopping $56 for a wine that costs $9 for a bottle! I had the stuffed shells, they were okay, but not worth $26. We ate there again the second evening of our stay as there is no where else to eat. We chose to order the food to go. My husband and I ordered the risotto, but all we got was some plain white rice! I called to ask if there was a mix up and the woman said that is all they had. Seriously??? $26 for rice??? I was hoping the second night would be better, but it was far worse. We will definitely never be back.
