Tiny unassuming spot in Borrego springs- but it's fantastic!We just came for coffee, but ended up with (very affordable) quiche, egg bites, lemon bars, and bagels. All were served hot, delicious, and quickly. Quiche with mushrooms was savory and soft. Egg bite with mozzarella was crisp and the yolk oozed out wonderfully.My friend said it best: this is a little spot that knows what it can do, and sets about doing it excellently. Will return any time I'm in town.

Went here with a large group after camping and everyone enjoyed their food. The mushroom quiche was delicious, one of the best quiches I've tried. The lemon bar was also very good. Service was quick and the server seems like a solid guy.

This is one of borrego Springs rock solid places when it comes to a cafe you can grab a cup of coffee and a nice reasonable priced breakfast, lunch, or some of the best pizza in town, in which I just saw has delivery from 4-7. WOW!That's pretty cool for a small genuine town like Borrego.I've been coming to Borrego off and on for years and lived here at times and Calicos has always there for the community and visitors to dine.It's a hub for visitors in the morning andCamping here is so inexpensive and it's so beautiful this year with great weather,I'm staying for at least another month.Calicos has a Nice little covered patio dining area conveniently located in the the mall which is located off Palm canyon across from Center Market.I get drip coffee in the morning but they do have espresso drinks and Awesome Date shakes!Wildflowers are coming out right now so it's a good time to visit Borrego Springs State Park.ALot of cyclists like to go to Calicos because it's quick and they can lock their bike up right next to them while eating Or take their food next door to tables in the Art Park which has plenty of bathrooms.Parking: Plenty of parking for large vehicles and RVs.Wheelchair accessibility: Large concrete patio in front of cafe and door which provides plenty of room to turn around and dining area for ADA.When it is busy it's cramped inside.

I've always liked Calico-clean and comfortable. Some recent changes are worth noting, however. Expresso has been added back in to the menu and every food item is served with appreciation. I was thanked for my order, warned that it might take awhile because they were (thankfully) busy and thanked for my patience when my sandwich was brought to my table. Said sandwich was fresh, thick, attractive and most importantly, delicious. Nice people, nice place, great food. Hard to beat in Borrego Springs.

Let me say, the ride out to Borrego is amazing, but when you get into town you'll find a small plaza. Inside is THEE best lil pizza place in all of East San Diego County. Calicos! Had the best x lg.cheese double pepperoni and mushroom pizza I've had in a long time! Toppings were plentiful, doesn't skimp on the cheese, crust was hearty, had a wonderful texture and taste. The owners are some of the nicest ppl you'd ever meet, service is friendly. Prices are a lil high, but for the quality it's worth it. They have a nice a few little tables outside. More so a take out place. But there is a beautiful park right behind them with picnic tables and it's always a nice day in Borrego. Highly suggest this place is worth the stop. Only down fall is the hours have been somewhat inconsistent. Would be great if they were opened 4-9 Sunday thru Thursday and Fridays and Saturdays from 11-9. As the hours of operation are very unusual for a pizziera. Right now it needs head lead to get things together. That's the only con, the operation. Its taken me quite sometime to try this place as it was difficult to actually get it on a day there were open. Bottom line: food, service, ppl are 10+ Great place.

Needed a quick breakfast and coffee and this place was perfect! The chile relleno quiche was delicious - so silky smooth with so much cheese and flavor. My partner who doesn’t eat bread was able to get a sandwich with turkey, cheese, and bacon and just eat the filling. Coffee was good too and the service was very friendly!Vegetarian options: Chile relleno quiche

Excellent pizza, the dough has a nice texture and the cheese has a great flavor. We were here for a month and got their pizza 3 times we liked it so much. The staff is also very friendly. Prices are good compared to other restaurants in the area.
