I ordered two chicken fried steak dinners, one with fully loaded mashed potatoes and one with a loaded baked potato they came with a side of veggies and choice of salad or soup my husband and I both got salad. You also got the choice of brown gravy which is delicious and white country gravy which we decided to try this time and it was amazing. My sons both got kids spaghetti and garlic bread. The portions were more then enough to fill up my 12 and 11 year old who eat like grown men. We also got a side of garlic butter shrimp and fries for my one year old. Every thing was cooked perfectly and hot still even after a 15 minute drive home. Fresh and full flavor! More than filling sized portions. The cook did absolutely amazing tonight!!
We have eaten here several times. Dinners were delicious. Lunches were so tasty. And having breakfast for the first time today, it was amazing! Jessie takes very good care of you, so friendly and sweet! Would highly recommend The Outpost to anyone!
Absolutely awful service. I went in and had to wait a long time just to get a table, even though they weren’t busy. Then I was asked where I wanted to sit, but was forced to sit at a table in the corner. It’s obvious I was treated this way because I wasn’t a local. I waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone and just left. Definitely do not recommend unless you live here.

An old school steak house. The prime rib was excellent. However the service was lacking, we were seated right away, but it took 15min for someone to take our order, then about 15 for the soup and another 15 to 20 min before we got the main dishes.

The best server and food manager in the valley, Jess, is now at the outpost for breakfast and lunch! I am a total snob when it comes to biscuits and gravy, and hands-down theirs is the best!! Danelle got a classic breakfast and her eggs were cooked perfectly (mine, too), the home fries were crispy, and the service excellent. Fri-Sun for breakfast, get there!

Our entire party was happy with our food. Most of us ordered steak, they were all cooked perfectly and well seasoned. They made great cocktails and service was excellent. Highly recommend eating here if you are looking for a higher quality dinner.

At first glance, The Outpost in Burney, California, might appear to be just a dive bar. But don’t let its unassuming exterior fool you; it serves one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time.
I ordered my steak medium rare, paired with loaded mashed potatoes, and it was cooked to perfection. The steak was juicy and flavorful, exactly how a medium-rare steak should be. The loaded mashed potatoes were a great complement, rich and satisfying.
The dressing for the salad was a bit watery, as mentioned in other reviews, but it brought back fond memories of an Italian restaurant I used to visit with my dad when I was a kid, so I didn’t mind at all.
The atmosphere at the bar was welcoming and enjoyable. I had the chance to chat with a few of the employees, who made me feel right at home. It’s always a pleasure to find a place where the staff is friendly and engaging.
Overall, I highly recommend The Outpost to anyone in the Burney area. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s worth stopping by for a phenomenal steak in a warm, inviting setting.

Steak dinner was good, salads had very watery dressing. Kids meals very expensive. Overall too expensive for what you get.

Came here on a weeknight. Waited almost 40 mins for our food to arrive. We were starving by then. We also got a couple items that were wrong (i.e. fries instead of salad, wrong salad dressing).
We ordered some fried foods and though we did like the crispy fries, some of the sweet potato tots were overly fried and burnt, and the burger bun was almost all black on the bun which made it harder to chew.
Buttermilk chicken strips- good and crispy, but nothing extraordinary
Hot Hawaiian Burger- it's a big burger. Tasted good but beware it is mildly spicy which my kid didn't like.
