Okay, it was nice to see the old Bob's Big Boy space open. We went on a wed evening about 530. A bit concerning as the place was empty. Only two other customers there.
There salad bar was closed and the inside was just as Bob's left it. Kinda nice.
Server very nice, ordered Chili size, French Dip, Pay Melt and a Quesadilla.
First, the menu is HUGE. General dinner fare and a complete Mexican selection. The chili size was ok 6/10. Canned beans mixed in with a basic sauce they seemed to make right then. Party was big, but tough. Patty Melt was same 6/10. Quesadilla was good, but very greasy. 6/10 Had to blot the grease off with napkins. Good sliced steak and cheese. Now for the French Dip. Usually, this is sliced roast beef with beef drippings to dip in. The meat looked to be similar to the bread in a can used for creamed cooked beef. Definitely just deli beef thrown in the flat top to brown a bit and slapped on the bun. Tasted rather funny. Only ate 1/2 of it. 3/10.
The star of the show was their fries. Those were GONE. JUST GOOD OLD FASHIONED DINER FRIES!!!
Overall rating is a 2 Star for me. When the menu is this big, they tend to do everything mediocre rather than having a scaled down menu and do things good consistently. Maybe the Mexican food and breakfast are their forte.
We've seen them open as we go up to our kids house in calimesa regularly and just figured we'd stop in tonight. I have never seen a huge crowd of cars in the parking lot and that seems to tell the tail I here.
Hoping they can make some adjustments, but for me it's a one and done.

We travel around town to all the little Cafe type diners, and Sammy's is our new place to go!.. super delicious, great service..tonight was mexican and I highly recommend the fajitas and Sammy's!

Let me start off with I’m a big fan of this restaurant my husband and I have had great breakfasts, lunch, and dinner. The last couple of times we have gone to Sammy’s the quality has slipped. Our dinner was horrible. The food was so spicy I was unable to eat it a simple taquito plate my husband ordered the enchilada plate again very spicy. He had to take two heartburn pills and antacid tablets before he went to bed. It’s obvious to them Mexican food should just be hot not flavorful. Talked to family and friends said they noticed the same. We think we’ll take a break from Sammy’s too many other good restaurants to choose from.

The old BOBS BIG BOY restaurant on the other side of the 10 frwy in calimesa. NOW CALLED SAMMYS. Good location . Great food. SUNDAY buffet. Noise level is good. Plenty of parking. Handicap parking and entrance. Thanks R AND K SOCAL.
There was only my son and I plus one other customer so it was quite. The food was good taste, size, and price. The waitress was friendly and made sure we had everything we wanted. First time eating here and will definitely be returning.

Advice , don't open your doors until you are ready to serve , training needed to the staff. I didn't even order food , 6 tables only, 4 employees in front and they were lost

First time here since Bob's left. The interior is the same down to the same tears in the booths which is a bit of nostalgia. I definitely miss Bob's but this is a place you should try. Just be aware that the food was very good, waitress was ok but the price was a bit steep. We will be going back...even if it's to reminisce.
