Bittersweet restaurant is closing. Tons of staff working the Friday before closure but everyone seemed pretty somber. Even Jim, the owner was working the line but not walking around talking or even thanking patrons- odd. We surely will miss this location and great seafood. Not the same ambience at the other restaurants.
Stay away from the sushi dishes. The fish is not fresh and the cutting skill is subpar. I had to spit out the stringy tuna sashimi pieces. It's my first time here ... If I were to come back, I would just stick with the what their oysters & clam chowder.

The restaurant was packed and service suffered little not enough to really matter. Food was okay. Chowder was very good. The burger was overcooked to medium well not medium rare as requested. Mussels were good in a nice white sauce. Overall good.
I recently visited Oyster Bar & Kitchen in Forthright and had a very satisfying dining experience. The food in the restaurant is delicious, especially the clams and oysters which are so fresh, delicious and amazing. In addition, I was particularly impressed with the salads at this restaurant. Since we don't eat dairy products, the chef specially made a salad with olive oil and vinegar for us. This salad is fresh, delicious and leaves you with endless aftertaste. Overall, this restaurant not only has fresh ingredients but also very considerate service. It is a highly recommended place.

Forthright is by far the best oyster bar and seafood restaurant we have dined at in the Bay Area in our 40 years of living here. We will miss it so much. Thank you Jim Stump and team!!
We went for happy hour with friends as we knew they were closing soon, but the service was barely ok Food was good and enjoyed most of the evening, but the service was below the normal we had expected. The service was not friendly and did not make us feel comfortable at all. Also, when I mentioned that the bill was incorrect because we weren't charged a happy hour price, she started to blame me for ordering incorrectly. Last visit for us wasn't as nice as many prior visits
Great prices at happy hour. Enjoyed the burger deal ?. Service was also great.

I am so bummed Forthright is closing. It has been my go-to for special dinners. The food, service and ambiance are great, even during the pandemic. I hope some of the menu items make their way to Jim Stump's other establishments. Thanks for the great meals and memories.

Everything was great as usual. Unfortunately their last day is June 23rd. We'll miss them. Fortunately the owners have other restaurants in the area and we'll be trying those.
We had fresh oysters with a glass of champagne. Very good. Liked the fresh horseradish. Shared a number of other dishes. We weren't crazy about the Butter Roasted Oysters, and they were out of the octopus and crabcake. ;-} The frogs legs and crudo were both very good especially the sauces. They had a special of beer battered anchovies with a romesco sauce - very good also. We had a few other dishes and a bottle of a French chardonnay whic was good with the seafood. Service was very good. Sorry to hear that it is closing.

Had a 5:15 reservation, but was not seated until 5:40. The seat was next to the door the the patio that staff was constantly opening and closing, it was like eating in a wind tunnel. They overcharged us so we had to get them to fix the bill, and they still would not fix all the errors, saying we had ordered something we did not. This was a stressful dining experience across the board, would not go back here.
My mom and I came on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm. It was not at all crowded and the staff seemed to still be getting ready for the dinner rush. The oyster selection was great and we really enjoyed the selection. Unfortunately though, they seem to seriously over-spice most of their food. If you are at all sensitive to spicy food make sure you inquire about how it's prepared - it seems nearly everything they make is hot - even the pickled vegetable appetizer! Aside from the oysters (and the clams which were delicious, but has to be ordered without chili, which would have ruined the dish, IMO), the rest of the food was either disappointing or too spicy for us to eat. We did enjoy the cocktails and they have an interesting selection.
