We had to wait an HOUR past our reservation time. I understand that some delays but that was excessive and just bad customer service. Management should either plan reservations better, hire more people, or at least have the courtesy to notify those who made reservations about the delay in advance. Instead, we got a notification 10 minutes before our reservation that the table was ready! The food and experience ended up meeting expectations, but as much as we pay to eat there, the hour long wait even with a reservation and total lack of communication needs to be addressed. I'm not sure if we will go back any time soon.

Went in with my family because I have always had a great time eating at any location but we were in the area so gave this one a shot. Our waitress was great! Personable with my kids as well as the adults. Daniel our chef should probably take some lessons from other chef’s around him. Very quiet, no excitement whatsoever and probably one of the worst hibachi experiences we have had. Food tasted bland, very little seasoning, chicken fried rice was burnt. The restaurant was very smoky as the staff were trying to open doors to get some of the smoke out of the area. We had ordered some crunchy crab rolls at the beginning and had to cancel the order as they still weren’t made an hour into our visit when they started cooking. Overall I know of plenty of places I can spend over $450 for dinner for 5 people to have dinner and leave satisfied and everyone could have a great time. For the future I will not return to this location and stick to locations I know have great food paired with great service. This was my most expensive bill at any Benihana and the worst experience and food I have had as my family gets to keep living it the next day as we all are frequenting the restroom with stomach issues since our visit.

We had the best time at Benihana’s in Carlsbad, CA. Our server Kaylin was so friendly and gave us wonderful service. The Benihana chef Trevor was fantastic, had us laughing with his great sense of humor, the food he made was delicious and cooked exactly how we wanted. Looking forward to going back soon!!!

Carley the bartender was doing extra duty as our server. She was polite, friendly and charming. Preston the manager was helpful when our food did not arrive at the same time. The birthday savings are worth signing up for. Lobster sushi was delicious.

Be prepared to wait an hour with or without a reservation. it’s complete incompetence from a reservation management perspective. You’re better off going to Shogun down Palomar Airport Road. Waited an hour past our reso, then sat for another hour before giving up and walking out.
