Tried Beshock Ramen in Carlsbad & oh my yum! Seaweed salad, garlic edamame, and Tan Tan ramen. I have to talk about the ramen first. The flavor of the broth was so rich and creamy. The spice was subtle but definitely notable without leaving a fiery burn. The toppings and noodles simply enhanced the flavor of the broth and over all experience of the variety of flavor packed into one small dish. I felt so satisfied and nourished after our meal. Often our food continues to lack nourishment and everything eaten was not only delicious but also provided wonderful sources of nutrition. Oh the garlic edamame. I found them to be deliciously difficult little buggers to get into I am amazed I did not send a bean flying across the table towards someone. If you are a lover of garlic I would definitely recommend an order of these and to not feeling the least bit guilty about licking your fingers clean. Loved that this seaweed salad had different types of seaweed like a sea green medley. It was crunchy, tangy, and provided a lightness that helped refresh the palate by cutting the richness of the ramen. Quick note on the staff. The people that we had interaction with were wonderful, lively, and creative individuals who were very attentive to check-in with us throughout our meal. I would confidently say that they put their A game forward and it showed!

Not bad just not really great. My son and I went last weekend and he ordered the spicy miso ramen and I ordered the ahi poke with chips. The ahi was bland and lacking in flavor. I also would have preferred if they had provided some sort of wonton chips rather than tortilla chips. The chips themselves were slightly stale and would have been a better accompaniment to salsa rather than ahi. My son enjoyed his spicy miso ramen...I tasted it and it was flavorful but a little salty. We also shared an order of garlic edamame which was good. The service was great and the server very friendly. I would probably give this spot another chance, try some other dishes and update my review. I just won't be in a huge rush to do so.

4pm on a Friday. Place was deceptively busy. Service was fast! Ramen was tasty! Overall experience will make this our new go-to. Especially since they also have Japanese curry... and pan fried pot stickers.

The BeShock Ramen (+corn) is good! The pork belly is tender, the broth full of flavor, and the veggies so good too. The homemade gyoza was perfectly crispy in the outside and full of tender meat filling inside. The BeShock Sushi was just okay, go for the ramen. For cocktails I has the Japanese 75, it taste like a light and refreshing boozy lemonade. The Ube cocktail is gorgeous and delicious!! Highly recommend both!

My wife and I researched Japanese restaurants in San Diego before leaving Atlanta on vacation. We found this place on Instagram and planned to have dinner here one night. Well, last night was the night and it was worth it. We ordered two appetizers and ramen. Everything was delicious with great flavor. The spicy chicken karage was fantastic..not overpowering with spice, but just enough. The shishito peppers were soft but sweet. Perfect combination! Now the ramen, we both ordered the spicy ramen and it had a good kick to it, but not enough to burn. The noodles were just like what I ate in Okinawa. But the best part was the egg...it was a semi-hard boiled egg with the yolk still soft. Overall the food was fantastic and worth going to. Now the negative part is the location. If you use maps on iPhone, it takes you to the entrance of the Regal theater. So you may think you are in the wrong location. Well you are not! The restaurant is on the side of a large shopping mall complex where the theater is. I only wish their Instagram page would state they are located in the Shoppes of Carlsbad as it took me 15 minutes of driving around the area to find it.

Great joint next to the movie theatre. Plenty of Vegan Options and variety. I came back here twice before leaving San Diego. Added to my Cali collection. ...Worth a stop if you're craving Ramen and Sake.

Overall great experience. Grabbed a quick meal here after a few hours of surf lessons at Carlsbad Beach, and the ramen hit the spot! Service was oustanding...5 star. Food was a 3/4, but overall tasty and good value. We enjoyed in particular the garlic edamame, crispy spicy tuna, spicy pork ramen, and gyoza. Good experience...worth a visit.

Wow, what a cool place! I've eaten here 3x so far and was really impressed. My friend ordered the Crispy Spicy Tuna, so I had to try it. OH MY ... now I have cravings! The crispy rice was a deal-changer. This was a first for me, I love sushi, but have never experienced the rice like this. My husband is Filipino and loves the bottom of a pot of rice - you know, the crispy/burnt part. Haha, this reminded me of this delicacy. Anyway, apart from this, I had the lunch special. I chose the Pork Bowl Set with Chicken Koji ramen. It was super. Good price too. I also suggest the Beshock Roll. The fried onions piled on top really make this dish. SO good, so fresh. Each time I've been here, the waitress/waiter have been accommodating, as well as willing to answer my questions. Each one have had great personalities - I can tell they love their jobs. This says something. I didn't get any alcohol - I don't drink, but they've got a myriad of sake and other mixed drinks. Something for everyone. Try it next time you're by the mall!

井の中の蛙大海を知らず。"A frog in his well knows nothing of the sea." This old Japanese saying basically means that people judge things based on their own experiences, without knowing anything outside their own little worlds. This is certainly the case in my experience with ramen. Although I have been eating it for many years, I still consider myself a novice when it comes to this iconic noodle and its many different broths. I know what I like (tonkotsu by preference) and I know when ramen ain't that good, but the subtleties of taste and texture? Ahhh, I am still that frog in the well. That all said, BESHOCK ramen in my estimation does more than an adequate job with ramen it produces. Their signature umami ramen has a wonderfully salty shio quality, with a light chashu (pork belly) cooked in white miso. The miso ramen has a discernibly porky quality coming through the miso base. And the tonkotsu, assuming you don't mind black garlic oil added into it, is estimable as well. I have not tried too many of their non-noodle dishes, but I do want to praise highly their Nagoya-style karaage. They batter good quality chicken thigh (always the way to go for Japanese cuisine!), lightly fry it and then toss it in a tangy-sweet and peppery sauce. Very good as a side or as a meal unto itself. I should also mention that the staff was friendly and pleasant, although they did not really seem all that familiar with the cuisine that they are serving. I suppose as long as the food appears and tastes the way it does, that does not matter than much. But if this were in Japan, every employee from the chef to the janitor would be able to tell you about their fare. Lastly, while I like their food very much, I do think BESHOCKED might be better focused on what they could serve. First, I wish they made a traditional tonkotsu without the garlic oil, although I have no doubt that it caters to local tastes. And while they do have summer specials, a glaring omission are the cold ramens typically served in Japan's hotter months. Lastly, as they do bowls/poke bowls and sushi, they might offer chirashi as well (sometimes called scattered sushi, with many types of fish placed atop a bowl of sushi rice). All this said, this frog thinks what BESHOCKED produces is some pretty authentic ramen and I proudly consider myself a repeat customer. Itadakimasu.

Waitress could have been more patient and gentle with words under pressure, but besides that... SHOCKED AT BESHOCK!! This place, by far best Ramen I've ever had. Beef Rib here was incredible and the broth was extremely rich. Hate how it's gonna be the standard for the rest of the ramens I'll eat in this lifetime. Just delicious. What an experience!

Amazing ramen and curry! Shockingly surprised at the authenticity and great flavors without being too salty. 10 out of 10 will be back again. On top of the amazing food the service is spectacular and that made the experience that much better. Servers were super attentive to our young children and went above and beyond.

Finally!!!!! We finally have some cultured food here in Carlsbad. Coming from the Bay Area, we were lavishly spoiled with cultural food. So so so glad to see some cultural food here in Carlsbad that was prepared impeccably well!!! Yummy for my Tummy!!!

Great taste. I was not expecting the amount of spiciness from a bowl of ramen but it was worth it. Came with a great about of green onion and ground pork. I definitely recommend pairing it with a Sapporo beer.
