Black Rail Kitchen + Bar

We met friends for dinner at Blackrail for dinner on Sunday evening at 5:30pm. It appears to be a nice restaurant and the food was fine. However, shortly after arriving a 4 piece jazz band set up and began playing. The music was so loud that I developed a headache and was unable to hear anything our friends had to say. I was disappointed with the experience and would not return to Blackrail unless I was assured that there would be no live music.

I have very annoying food allergies to all alliums. (Garlic onions shallots leeks etc). We sat at the bar and Hunter made suggestions and worked with the chef and others to come up with a delicious shrimp and pasta dish. I love the Black Rail Chardonnay!!! We sat at the bar and it was nice and quiet. Very good experience! Carl and Lynn

Bummer, love this place. Went in tonight, ordered an aperol spritz, came in wrong glass which I guess is my fault, but when I asked for it in a wine glass it barley filled up the bottom 10% of the glass. Let the server know the issue, he took it back to the bar, then came back and said this is how we serve it here, I said it’s not I get it here all the time. The bar tender was huffy about it and threw some ice in the glass with soda water. I was super nice about my request and not demanding and even apologized for ordering it in a champagne glass instead of a wine glass originally. The attitude of the server and unfortunately the bar tender was arrogant and not one of service to others. We literally got up and left when we saw that. We come here and spend money. Thought more highly of this place before tonight. Should have grabbed his name. That bar tender does not care about doing things correctly and being of service to the guest who are paying to eat there.
The date and time: Friday 12/5/2025 7:45 PM. Whomever the bar tender was at this time needs to be retrained for service.

Great experience as always. Chef needs to lay off the chile oil or peppers when it is not described in the menu. The florets with the tuna were a bit high on the heat side and they were orange red from the oil. Spoiled the taste of a great piece of fish so we set it aside. Hunter our server was understanding and we appreciated his solution. Again, if a flavor or temp is not mentioned on the menu, ownership and the kitchen should expect it to be sent back. Totally avoidable. Thank you.

We had a couple of drinks, the tuna for appetizer, the cioppino, and the mushroom pasta for dinner. All were fresh and delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive.

I feel that when you make a reservation (in advance) with a particular seating preference, they should honor it. I love the place but every time have not seated us where we indicated we wanted to sit.

FYI music is only on the weekends.
They have indoor and outdoor seating.The indoor seating is very nice.The outdoor is, well it's not completely covered.So it is outdoors, so it might be cold. I ordered the spicy seafood soup. I had it without the extra chili.
I also had a small caesar salad and Ice tea.

We had a great time! The jazz band was very nice and not too loud. The garlic shrimp that Hector recommended was fantastic! Hector is a true gem! Our waiter.....I believe that was his name....couldn't be more attentive.

We sat in a booth by the bar - the restaurant next to us looked like a nicer environment - salad was excellent - pizza very good - Thick and crispy crust.

Service amazing presentation amazing taste amazing! Plus made an old fashion cocktail my way.. Had no problem making my two yr old granddaughter happy!

We had our 40th HS reunion here and it was perfect! Great atmosphere for large parties or groups but also provides a cozy, intimate setting for more personal dining. The food and service was outstanding. Highly recommend!

Despite making a reservation we were seated in an empty dining room on a table next to the swinging kitchen door. No ambiance in the room with no other customers present. Food was very disappointing and expensive for a not very exciting meal menu.

So happy to discover this gem! Great food, service and we loved sitting out on their beautiful patio listening to jazz!

We went on a Tuesday and it was fantastic. Happy hour prices all day. The whole place was fun, with a really nice atmosphere.
