Service was amazing. Aubree was so so sweet and went above and beyond to make my boyfriend and I happy. They can cater their menu to vegans which was nice. The veggie pasta with red sauce was vegan and delicious. They hooked it up with vegan oil dressing with vegan rolls that was amazing. Very pleased will definitely be back <3
Finally different owner, it's been 2 years since been there until last night. Awesome. Can't wait to go back
Amazing! I never order pasta but did here and it was heaven on a plate. I can't remember the sauce but it's the cheese sauce with Cajun spices ?
Nice, little restaurant on the corner. Wait staff was great and the food was excellent. Would definitely come back when I'm in the area again.
Absolutely amazing food and ambiance. The family feel, the care and attention paid to the food, the personal care taken to make everyone feel welcomed, it all made us feel like we'd been coming to this restaurant for years despite it being our first time. The best garlic bread I've ever had, and overall one of the best Italian dinners my wife and I have ever had.
Talk about a PERFECT start to our vacation!! My 3 sisters and I found ourselves at Caldo Pomodoro as our first lunch on a 3 day Carlsbad Sister getaway. Justin lured us in with his great personality ( and LOOKS) and gave us AMAZING service! We sat on the patio and chatted with the other customers...ALL were as satisfied as we were!! THE FOOD WAS AWESOME!! We shared 3 appetizers, the Baked Protobello Mushrooms, Baked Arichoke Hearts, and the Garlic Shrimp Appetizer
As delicious as always. We miss the garlic bread samples to further entice us in for a meal, but with the covid issues, we understand.
I visited Carlsbad the first full week for January 2021. The boyfriend and I wanted a good place for dinner on Day 2 (January 9), so we ultimately decided on Caldo. We originally had a sidewalk table but it was pretty chilly; our server, Alejandro, was kind enough to clean a recently emptied table under a heat lamp for us to sit at. I had the baked ziti, and my boyfriend had the homemade jumbo meatball with...angel hair, I believe. The taste was phenomenal, the house-made sauce was absolutely delicious, the garlic bread was fantastic... And Alejandro was sweet enough to bring me a small piece of cake, singing me "happy birthday" (it was my birthday the following day).Absolutely wonderful experience, and if I ever make it back to Carlsbad, you best believe I'll be coming for dinner again!
My husband brought me here once and the food was amazing, the experience and atmosphere was wonderful then as well. This time I brought my sister and the food was just as amazing as I remembered it. This place has the best garlic bread ever, and tasty food. Our server, Justin made sure we had a great time; his recommendations were spot on and delicious and he was just so attentive and sweet.Wonderful experience, and will continue to return for great Italian food and superb service.
Amazing food and great service. Ask for Justin if you go. He gave a great insight to places to see and about the history of the restaurant. Definitely would recommend to anyone who loves Italian food!

Our server was friendly and helpful with recommendations lThe portions are large and every dish we ordered was phenomenal. The garlic bread was better than my homemade. Great experience!
Wow where to start? This place was amazing. The food was delicious and work every penny and our waiter was so kind as well. I can't imagine us eating at any other restaurant besides the hot tomato when we visit Carlsbad from now on
If there was a way to leave more stars i would. By far the best Italian food I've had in my life. My husband has been here before and told me I had to try it and I've never been so happy to have him drag me somewhere. Friendliest staff ever and in a historical building. Used to be the Los Diego hotel built in 1925 and the place still holds all the character and charm it was built with. Amazing atmosphere, amazing food, and amazing staff. Will be going back to Caldo Pomodoro for years.
Had an amazing experience at Caldo Pomodoro and it can only be called that, an EXPERIENCE. The food was to die for, as it always is, but the staff and history of the building make it all the more enjoyable. By far the best Italian food I've eaten in all of San Diego County. Will be returning to this restaurant for years to come.
Dinner 2 days ago. Absolutely fantastic!!!First, the garlic bread is absolutely evil, I could have made it my main course.I had eggplant, parmesan, but the one with ham. Wife had a garlic chicken and loved it. Sorry I miss placed receipt with names, but no worries, everyone was throughly enjoying their meals. The location is off the main strip which also takes it nice. This year will be 30th anniversary in business, so doing something right. Restroom old with patches but that's alright as very clean.
