I'm just floored with the closing of Cessy's in Carlsbad. I just can't believe it. Cessy's has been a staple on the coast of Carlsbad for as long as I can remember! The food was amazing and the family that worked it seemed like friends to all of us. My Mom and Brother have had a photo of themselves up on their walls with other locals, for almost 20 years now! UGH I hope they'll reopen elsewhere. If anyone knows that and why they left (likely high cost of rent, or bought out by a developer... it IS prime real estate there) I'd love to know. As well, where am I going to get chicken rolled tacos, excellent carne asada, soft serve ice cream, and perfect crinkle fries? 3 generations of my family have been going here for as long as I can remember. :-( RIP Cessy's. You'll be missed.

THIS LEGEND WILL BE MISSED!! Carlsbad Village will never be the same without a classic burrito + ice cream from Cessy's on the beach. Say what you want about Cessy's but this shop was my childhood, and many others' who grew up in Carlsbad. There wasn't a day that passed where you wouldn't see high school kids chilling outside of Cessy's after school. So many fond memories here with so many friends over the years. Cessy's truly set the standard for Mexican food in Carlsbad and will be sorely missed by the community. I was devastated when I came home this week to visit and was craving a nostalgic Cessy's burrito, only to find them closed. Thank you for the years of delicious memories!

Five-Stars for the dearly departed... It is with a heavy heart that I write the review for Cessy's that I always meant to (they officially closed this week). Story Time: When I first moved to California in 2010 from Washington, I was an inexperienced eater when it came to Mexican cuisine. A few nachos here, a chimichanga there, and a handful of enchiladas. My first few days living in Carlsbad I was told by many that Cessy's had the BEST California Burrito around. And I had to ask: "What the hell is a California Burrito?" - Cut to me having an out-of-body experience from my first bite of that first Cali-B... It would not be the last. Even as we moved from Carlsbad to Oceanside, and then to Vista - we would always come back to Cessy's. Grab a burrito or a couple tacos, hit the beach, watch the sunset. We did that so many times I couldn't give you a number. When I wanted to celebrate my promotion years ago, we went to Cessy's. When I was mourning the loss of a good friend, we went to Cessy's. When we needed to escape the house during the Covid lockdowns and feel human again, we went to Cessy's. When I found out I was going to be a dad, and was having a little girl, I went to Cessy's, and said, "Man... I hope this place is around forever, so my daughter can have a bite..." A big round of applause is due to this place. Thank you for serving Carlsbad for so many years. If you grew up or lived around North County - you know the truth. Cessy's... Your Cali-B will always reign supreme in my dreams. Until we meet again in the great food court in the sky... Much love

We come here often when staying at our timeshare. Good food for a reasonable price. We found the business to be closed on May 9 and 10, 2022. No reason posted. Today May 11 we found a note on door that it may be out of business and number to call for inquiries about the property.

My favorite taco shop in North County. The food is good and affordable. I've been going here for over 20 years. They have been closed the last couple of times I came. I hope this is not permanent.

I'm a FOODIE. This is EXACTLY what Mexican food should be. Cheap. Flavorful. Spicey.. served on Styrofoam plates. I just had 3 beef rolled tacos with shredded cheese. Fantastic salsa.. & it was $3.. as good as any upscale Mexican restaurant in any major city. That those city dwellers would pay $40 for... yum yum & YUM.

Authentic Mexican food at great prices. Nothing fancy, just delicious. We ordered taquitos, carne asada, an assortment of tacos- everything was delicious.

I was shocked to find such A delicious authentic Mexican restaurant to get a perfectly delicious California burrito. I love how the potatoes on this were a real potatoes not french fries and the Red sauce is so delicious and spicy. We will definitely be going back

Great spot for fast and tasty takeout. The chicken burrito was big enough to split, huge amount at mildly seasoned meat. Add cheese and salsa to jazz it up. The mild salsa was just right for us . Tostada also very good. Chips and cheese were crisp and warm. Take out is well packaged, counter service fast and friendly. Employees were wearing masks. Note, prices on website are old, but Cessys is still a good deal.

Slightly disappointed with this establishment.. Came here on a Saturday around 11am. I ordered a California burrito. The meat had absolutely no flavor/seasoning/dry which makes me think that it was last nights/days meat. I don't know if I was their first customer but, the attendant was cold and didn't care about serving. Afterward, a couple of teenage boys showed up and the attendant was on her cell phone until she noticed that there were customers, after they had been chatting about the menu... My overall experience at Cessy's: -The portion size was great. The burrito was hefty and the meat to french fry proportion favored the meat. Now, idk if this is because they wanted to get rid of their "old" meat. Honestly, I can't say for sure if the meat I was served was from the previous day but it sure did taste like it (And i've tasted many burritos, also if that is what their meat tastes like regularly, yikes!). Another positive was that the burrito was not very greasy which helped me function for the rest of the day, unlike other spots and their burrito coma's. Overall the rating is a 2 because the portion size and because other staff members were very attentive with wiping down tabletops after customers had left but the food was very subpar, along with the salsa's.

Best taco shop in San Diego County-no question. From carne asada burritos to shredded beef tacos, it's all.good. I have tried many things on the menu, and never have I been disappointed. You won't either.

This place is hit and miss but we always go back. This week I had the machaca burrito and it was good ( do wish it had more onions and bell peppers though). My go to are the taquitos, yes, I got those too. Been going to this place for about 32 yrs now. Never miss a chance to eat here, so if it's a miss, do try again. Question, why would you put lettuce on enchiladas and the sauce was a weird brown (old)?

Huge let down. I think I came here at a bad time. The place wasn't busy at all and maybe the food was from yesterday or the day before (yikes!). I got a ground beef, bean and cheese burrito. It was the worst burrito I ever bought. The beans were luke warm, the cheese didn't even melt. And the ground beef was dry (DRY!) and had a nasty taste and smell. I think it was yesterday's ground beef that they were warming up but still not hot. I had two bits and threw it out. I would have asked for a refund but we got our food to go and didn't want to get in traffic again. My wife's chicken burrito was no better. The dry chicken tasted like leftovers from yesterday and the beans were not hot. The french fries were good though, no complaints about that. I don't give one stars very often but this place earned it, very disappointed.

Awesome Customer Service. The cook asked what we needed beforehand which was awesome bc he began prepping before a cashier came. Very professional and attentive. Delicious food. Great prices. Awesome location
