I asked the sample woman for an extra candy. She chewed my head off said they didn't have that many left in a very unpleasant and rude way. Geez, I feel like the quality of Costco staff has gone downhill just recently. I think I spent enough money at Costco to deserve two candies if I ask for it.

From all the Costcos I've been to, this one I always find parking really quickly. I feel like that's always a battle when going to a Costco and for some reason, I'm pretty lucky. The self-checkout options makes the lines with cashiers more manageable and quicker. I went with my mom this last time and somehow from the door where you show your membership card to the time we went to check out, she lost her card. It was super easy to get a replacement right on the spot. The line took a little bit but everything being in one place simplifies everything!

Been coming to this Costco my whole life, it's not the best but far from the worst. Employees have always been friendly and the cashiers are the best. People who give out samples are lovely. The shelves are always neat and well stocked. Generally good experiences until an interaction today around 1pm when I was there with my father, and a pharmacy assistant said that she's glad he referred to me as his daughter because she thought I was his "mail order bride"?! Don't know if that was supposed to be a joke, but it was an extremely sexist and racist thing to say. Even if we don't look alike, just because a younger woman is standing next to an older man does not mean they're romantically involved, and stereotyping my half-asian race as a "mail order bride" is disgusting. I didn't laugh, I must've just given a shocked face and walked away, but I was so confused that someone would say such a thing that it took me a few minutes to process what happened. I regret not speaking up. Anyways, the parking lot here is also hectic, and there are traffic issues both in and out of the store. In the parking lot you're better off parking farther, near the Wells Fargo, because I've heard of/seen far too many accidents or close calls in any of the lanes closer to the store. The extra few minutes of walking is well worth it. Inside the store unfortunately the sections to line up are difficult to manage so during peak hours it gets backed up into the snack and main aisles. Be sure to come here at odd times, like 10-2 on weekdays or early on weekends if you can. On a positive note, when I was little there was a gentleman at this location who used to always check our receipts and draw smiley faces or flowers for families with kids. Made my day every time and I loved seeing him for all those years when I was little. Shoutout to that guy, I think about him when I go to any Costco and I hope he's doing well.

Didn't have my Costco card but my sister and brother in law did oops my bad. I told Katie I didn't have my card sorry she said all nasty how did you get in then??? As I'm standing and with 2 other people using there grocery cart... anyhow she tells the other bagger to go and get me a temporary I said well I have a different purse and I do not bring all my card in one purse. Like who takes all there credit cards in one purse? I then look up my account on my phone and said can you use this? She said yes I said oh well you should have asked me if I had the app on my phone she was so mad and said I should have? With this smirk and nasty smile on her face... yeah thanks Katie for your amazing customer service but it looks like you have a few bad reviews on here anyway. Think you should look for another job:) a star cause I had too

Majority of this Costco is rich spoiled entitled Caucasian millennials who came here just for the free samples also willing to go above and beyond to harass people of minorities group to achieve their goals. I witnessed 2 white males screaming and attacking a lady who does sample for a roadshow inside Costco because she refused to give his friend a bigger size sample, in the end they brought the attention to the warehouse management but they took his side of the story and they told the lady to pack up and get out of their store. So much for the moral of "the customers always right" even if they called you names, being xenophobic, when you fought back, you took the fault and get kicked out by the one and only corporate company who contracted your employee to have you worked in their place. I despite it.

Did self checkout today and Peter came over and was rude about me placing the items. He kept hovering and telling me over and over again like if I was dumb. I had asked him to leave and told him ok I got it, twice. He made us wait 15 min at self check once the light turned red to wait for an associate.

Now I like this Costco more than others but the reason for the 3 stars is because you allow At&t and Cox Cable vendors inside your store and it is very unpleasant being stopped by them when I walk in.

Just a quick note out of a very busy day to affirm someone who gave us exceptional service at your Carlsbad store. We are local residents and frequent customers. My husband has some pretty severe hearing issues and is ordering product through Costco. The person who took the order was not in. Another employee, Matt, took over for her. He was absolutely outstanding: efficient, knowledgeable, and gave us some great advice. Moreover, he was so enjoyable to interact with that we talked about him on our way home! Well done, Matt. Hope this message of appreciation gets back to him.

Costco Carlsbad offers a terrific shopping experience with great prices, good variety, and helpful employees. I shop here about 3 times a month and always find something new. The prime NY sirloin and baby back ribs are examples of some amazing prices- about half of other stores. Costco gives their customers low prices and unmatched return policies. Just love the store.

Overall the employees are just plain rude, condescending and outright hostile. They treat you as if they're doing you a favor by answering a question, and seem to have forgotten that our spending pays their wages.

I've been shopping here for 15 years, but I'm not sure what has changed, but I've had some pretty bad experiences here lately.I was waiting in line to pick up pizza for a party. Someone jumped the line, and a food court employee asked him what he ordered. When I said that I was next in line, he got mad and threatened me by asking me if I wanted to be placed in the back of the line. I had to remind him that I'm not one of his employees, that I'm a customer. He then yelled at one of the employees to get my order. It seemed like a pretty toxic environment, but I don't think it's acceptable to yell at and threaten a customer, even at a Costco food court.I wanted to try a recliner before I buy it, but there was a guy sitting there. I thought it was a customer, so I just waited a couple of minutes before asking him if I can try out the recliner. He said that he was on his break and that it's almost over, and I can try it out when he's done with his break. So he sat there a few more minutes on his phone while I waited. Should employees really be taking their breaks sitting on the demo furniture?

Had a very disturbing experience with Giselle who was in the return department. I've never had issues with any Costco employee in 25 years but she didn't want to do the return and all of a sudden flagged me for excessive returns according to the manager right now Danielle. What I felt was discrimination at its highest. I've never been mistreated like this before at any store ever. Usually Costco employees are kind courteous and don't give me a hard time about any return and I saw people passing by me with return after return but I got two women who were making a big deal about me and giving me a hard time. Danielle the main manager is really rude and I told her I right away noticed that Giselle was unprofessional and since I mentioned that I wanted to talk to the manager then she right away went to the manager to say her case. immaturity at its finest and Danielle thought I was a "bad customer" who couldn't take no for an answer and said that I was trying to strong arm them into doing a return. I told her plainly I don't need the return, but I thought telling her about a horrible employee would be some she could notate but she was worse than even the employee and she said I don't care if you yelp us or call corp and basically told me to my face I don't care about you as a customer. if I wasn't alone I don't think she would've been as rude but she thought I was just a nobody and I wouldn't keep my word. I told her I have every right to speak about this encounter with Giselle and her absolute lack of customer service and hate, and obviously wanted Danielle to treat me badly and embarrass me. I guess Costco hires managers and employees who don't care about how they treat customers. I told danielle I don't need this return if you're going to be talking to me like I'm a bad person or a criminal for "excessive returns" which I wasn't even aware of until now.. didn't know that was a thing. so I guess I'm not shopping at Costco because I can't return anything there. You lost a great customer costco .. so if I purchase $2000 worth and return 100$ of it.. It's excessive. I'ma Yale grad and professor. I don't stay loyal to corporations that treat people badly. Also that flag people like you do by the computer system. I don't like to be labeled without knowing it. I'm done with my membership .. and when I told Danielle she said that's perfectly fine. horrible.

This is not our favorite Costco. On this shopping day we were closer to this location vs San Marcos but if I had to choose I would pick the San Marcos location. This costco is packed and they have grumpy employees interacting with the customers. Yesterday, my family went in for a couple items. They were sampling popcorn and the kids, of course, wanted a taste. I was the one to grab the samples and the lady handing them out was very rude. Not only was she rude to me, she snapped at the guy after me as well. Her name was Cyndy and I just feel that she should have a different job opportunity there vs being someone who interacts with customers constantly. Totally ruined the shopping vibe and shopping experience here. The way she spoke to me had me shocked and I just looked at her in disbelief that someone would speak to a customer like that. Hopefully this review is seen and she receives some training on proper ways to speak her mind in a kind way.

Food Court- smart of them, you have to show your Costco card now to purchase food. I am not a member but was with a friend. We grabbed a hotdog and soda for $1.50. Best deal in town. Thanks for a quick fast and inexpensive lunch.

Haven't been a member of Costco for a couple of years now, but decided to renew my membership today. I stopped shopping at Costco because, like everyone else, I enter the store and after browsing the aisles, end up walking out with more than I intended on purchasing. Well... we'll see what happens today. The Costco in Carlsbad is located adjacent to the popular Carlsbad flower fields attraction and Legoland California. For this reason, it is usually very busy. The store is clean and well stocked and before I go on...yes, they still offer plenty of food and drink items to sample. After passing by so many of them, I finally broke down and sampled some coffee. It was worth the stop and gave me a boost of energy to continue shopping. This store seems to be larger now, but I'm sure it's only because I've been so used to shopping at regular supermarkets these past years. I was able to navigate the store pretty well. Due to Mother's Day weekend, they were offering lots of flowers which gave the store an extra pop of color. Now that the price of eggs have increased, I took advantage of the savings and purchased them. I also picked up some salted butter and multivitamins. Since I decided to take a shopping list with me, I was able to prevent myself from purchasing things that I didn't need. Although the store was crowded, the checkout lines were moving customers fast and efficiently. I'm glad I renewed my Costco membership today. I will not only save money on food and tech items, but gasoline as well. Costco always has lower gas prices.
