Heard there is a Mexican restaurant moving into the old Barrel Republic across the street. Ridiculous!

Both tables they offered us were dirty (they did not clean the one we sat at). Asked how big the tacos were and got the answer "all of our tortillas are one size. Unless you get a quesadilla I guess"... "ok so about how big?" "Ya all one size". We ordered shrimp fajitas and carnitas taco, got served chicken fajitas then they decided to just bring out our taco while we waited for the right fajitas - ALSO WRONG (carne asada). Eventually got us the right food, but the carnitas taco (my go-to) was basically inedible and just pure grisel and the worst carnitas I have ever had. The tortillas for the fajitas were different size from the taco by the way lmao. Brought us the check as we're maybe halfway through sharing the fajitas AND THEY CHARGED US FOR TWO TACOS. 2 stars instead of 1 because the fajitas were pretty okay. Some ladies walked by and asked how it was - we said bad don't eat here. Saying that to you all as well.

Drinks are good. Nachos ! What, no. Service- great people. To be fair, I did not have anything else. Great ambiance and music.

I had the chili colorado and it rocked. My wife had a bowl of chicken tortilla soup and it was huge and awesome, she only ate half took to rest to go. I will go back! If you want fancy drinks, it not the place to go, but for great food and a beer in a frozen glass it's not to be missed. The service was very good as well. P.S. I rarely write reviews and only for great places.

Been coming to Garcia's for 40 years. The last couple of times the food has been terrible and service has been bad. Our waiter was too busy talking to the staff to serve us and when he did he forgot to bring out one of our meals. The place was empty on a Friday night, now I know why. I hope they fix the problem. I was a great restaurant and I hope they fix things.

Love their small, outdoor patio, great food, lots to choose from on the menu, and serving size was quite large, leaving about half to take home for another meal.

We ordered the "street tacos" with Carne asada and specifically asked for cilantro and onions. The carne asada was more like pale ground beef with no flavor and the taco was loaded with cold chedder cheese, lettuce and cold guacamole. No one onions or cilantro. Very bland and Not good at all. Service was pleasant, but my husband ordered a margarita without salt and the rim came salted. Would not recommend.

Not going back. Instead head to Casa de Bandini.

Before we even sat down and looked at the menu, the waiter was already asking us what we wanted to drink. It felt very rushed. I ordered 2 sopes and when I received it, the tortilla was soooo soggy, it was falling apart, you could see there was water filled up on the plate, it was very disgusting. I asked the waiter if that's how it was supposed to look, and he said it was due to the chicken?? I returned it immediately. He asked if I wanted a new plate, but at that point, I lost my appetite and did not want to eat a soggy sope. No apologies whatsoever. I understand if the staff was busy but please be kinder to the customers. I did not feel welcomed and felt very rushed.

Food was okay, services not so much. Friend order shrimp ceviche but was not served with crackers or tostadas, and when we asked the server appeared to be annoyed. Also, throughout the meals no one filled our waters or asked how things were. Atmosphere was good, at bit loud with crowd - but bearable.

Perfect place for outdoor casual dining while checking out the cute shops in downtown Carlsbad. Just a few blocks from the beach it is very close to Humble Oils and right next to a barber shop that's been in business for 70 years!

I look forward to eating here when I'm in town. The menu is big and has lots of options (though I usually get the same thing . . . )

I have dined here often over the last few years because the food is the best Mexican experience I have found in the Carlsbad area. The food is delicious and very authentic. It is small, but since covid, it has expanded out intro State Street for patio seating. It is located in the center of downtown Carlsbad. I highly recommend it.
