My favorite sushi place in north county San Diego! I am half Japanese and grew up in a Japanese household, so I tend to be very picky when it comes to Japanese food. The Hooked On in Carlsbad has fresh sushi that doesn’t leave you feeling bloated after. I usually get the vitamin roll (see roll with a flower in the picture) and they use fresh crab instead of imitation, which I LOVE. It does have fresh lime on top, so it’s definitely for citrus lovers. Their Mexican roll is also delicious if you love some spice and heartiness in your rolls. Staff is always on top of it and friendly. Prices aren’t crazy. 10/10 recommend and so does my family!

Salad was weak, bowls and utensils made me think of jail. The seats are uncomfortable. That's all .

I frequent this place for its location. I get you needed to increase price post pandemic. We are approaching the end of 2024 and they are still steadily adding extra dollar on every single item on the menu. About $2-3 increase since 2022. Their sushi is good but not that they are special. It'd be cheaper to fly to Japan and eat their Sushi at 1/6 of the price in a long run lol

Bam!
Or BAMCIS if you're old school!
Pretty awesome little lunch, quick, good salad and dressing, good miso soup, damn good sushi and damn good spicy tuna roll. If you're in a rush and like sushi, I strongly suggest this place.

Food. Is. So. Good. My kiddo got her favorites - California Roll and gyoza. I had the North Coast Roll and miso soup. Yum!

Kid-friendliness: The custom kids menu is so cute and I appreciated there being options that matches the regular menu (as opposed to the typical chicken tenders and fries).

I came In here for the first time last night with my family and everything was amazing, the service was quick and our amazing server Jellina was spot on with the recommendations, we got the Carlsbad lagoon, honey baked salmon and the yakisoba and it was so good and everything came out so fast, definitely a must try if you are craving a great atmosphere and some good food. I will definitely be back!

Sushi is just as much about rice as it is about fish. They make rice correctly and for me, that's a game changer. It is a sweet neighborhood spot that is always packed when I go. The interior is not anything to write home about but the food and choices of food are amazing. I'm not a "roll" eater normally, but they have nailed some of the"healthier" options.

A nice little sushi place, with lots (almost too much) variety. Certainly a good little spot, but make sure to come early because it gets busy!

My family and I love this place! The absolute best sushi in the tri-city area, probably even wider out than that. I have yet to run into something on the menu that I do not like. My favorite is the Super Mario roll, it comes with diced habanero and I add masago. The garlic edamame is awesome and the sauce at the end is great too. The drinks are good, beer options are nice, and the sake is amazing! The staff are always super friendly and very quick with service. Always nice music playing and the atmosphere has a nice vibe. It is a little darker which seems it is meant to help keep it cool. Bring a sweater, it gets chilly. Parking is scarce out front, but there’s parking to the side and in the rear. If it’sa weekend and you’re getting dinner, make a reservation!! It gets packed and it is totally worth the wait. We once waited 90 minutes for a reservation and my over stimulated kids didn’t mind the wait because the fare is so awesome. Do not hesitate to go for lunch or dinner!

Parking: Limited parking out front, parking on the side and in the rear.

Kid-friendliness: My children love it here! I have seen all ages of children in with their families. My kids enjoy many of the non-fish options such as miso soup, garlic edamame, and California roll.

Wheelchair accessibility: There are 2-3 handicapped spots in front of the door with a dip in the sidewalk for wheelchairs.

0stars on the food in the manager refused to come to the phone as if she’s so busy that she’s a cooking in the back or maybe she is a talble dancing i don’t know. Avoid this place at all cause if you want to get imitation crab when you pay for real crab for your sushi go for it and if you want it not be fresh go for it the management sucks. Also, the girl at the desk continue to hang up when I called to speak to the manager over an hour after they told me that she was unavailable Good luck they suck !!!?
