We stopped by Lofty Coffee this morning because the Turkish latte on the menu sounded interesting, and after trying their drinks and food I am very surprised that they don’t have a 5 star rating. This coffee place is for you if you love flavorful coffee that has very balanced flavors of herb/spices and isn’t super sweet and syrupy. My husband got the seasonal peppermint latte and I got the Turkish latte and both were amazing.
Their made in-house pastries are also DELICIOUS! The matcha doughnut, which was topped with crushed pistachios and dried rose petals, is a must try! We also enjoyed their orange-cranberry rosemary scone so much that we grabbed an extra to go after we devoured the first one. You really can’t beat freshly made pastries and flavorful coffee.

We got the drinks to go but decided to stay since they have a nice seating area in front. I ordered the Aztec Mocha - so good and yes, spicy. Also ordered the Black Lavender ice tea... it comes unsweetened, just fyi.

I’ve lived in Carlsbad all my life and lofty coffee is just the bottom of the barrel. I paid $29 for a SMALL coffee and a sandwich. It was so expensive that I honestly thought I was mischarged. But I decided to hope for the best and hope the quality was reflective of the price……
The coffee was supposed to be lavender but honestly had no taste, could’ve just been a vanilla latte I make at home. Not a craft coffee at all :( The tater tots were good but I barely even finished the sandwich, it was below average. There’s so many other great spots around Carlsbad, so don’t stop here unless you want to break the bank.
The owners replies to certain reviews, is rude and argumentative. Take some constructive criticism and make your business better, Lofty Coffee.
This is my favorite coffee spot in Carlsbad. Usually not over crowded, coffee is delicious. Salted Caramel latte is a solid choice. Locally roasted. Free 90 min parking in the back. Favorite coffee currently

Brooks, the GM is amazing. Baristas are hit or miss. The last few hires have horrible attitudes. Idk why they work in service. But the coffee is reasonably good. The food is great and the manager genuinely does a great job. Just need to cycle a few of these bad attitudes out and tighten up training regarding milk temp and texture.

I used to go here all the time since 2013. Over the years the service has gone down and the food too. The baked goods are still what they used to be which is nice. Recently I ordered a pour over which cost $9 which was quite small. In addition, when I poured it out of the newer carafe it leaked all over. I told the baristas how it seemed odd for a $9 pour over that the device they use leaks everywhere. The response was “sorry, thanks for letting us know.” It came off as if they didn’t care. In truth, Lofty seems to have become another snooty SoCal coffee shop and no longer a locals spot who genuinely cares about its customers. At least that is how it has seemed the last two years I stop in. I won’t be coming back again.

I have to start the review by saying, such a fantastic coffee. We were so pleased to find this little corner of joy 😊
The pastry is fresh and with a vast selection of different/unique plates to taste from.
Another highlight was the service, as the barista was extremely thoughtful in recommending what to try. Will definitely come back for more coffee.
One thing to note, it can be hard to find parking.

The coffee here is so delicious, we got the cloudy with a chance of cold brew and a cortado with the single origin and both were amazing. They have something for everyone.

i ordered iced oatmilk latte with vanilla syrup per usual in every cafe i visit. Their coffee i ordered here tasted very sour, good thing the staff was kind enough to redo my order but it still tasted sour.. i ended up ordering a different kind of drink. Overall, sub par coffee for the price but great staff service.

Coffee is good, but comes at a high price. I would like to see the Nitro coffee in a size less than 16 oz. Prices have gone up significantly in the last year. No parking which I have to factor into my rating. On my most recent walk-in visit the first thing I saw was a visibly upset employee complaining about a customer which distracted her from greeting me or acknowledging that I was there. Not exactly the first thing you want to see when walking into a business. Almost $7 for a Nitro coffee which is just too much at this point. It is always crowded here, I don't think I've found an open table ever. Overall there are a number of better places in the area.
Parking: Parking is basically non-existant. There are a couple spaces out front that are always taken and this place is always busy.

20 dollars for: a small lavender latte w/almond, small golden milk tea, and small banana bread. Felt a little rushed ordering. There wasn't a menu to see prices or what they offered drink wise. Tastes on all items weren't anything special flavor wise. Hand crafted you'd think would taste better than average. The sign mentioned in the response was only displaying food. We asked about a drink menu and she simply asked what we were looking for vs. providing a menu.

I love it here! Miss America, my cat, is always welcome here as well. We love it because the coffee is delicious and craft! Meaning the coffee beans are roasted in small batches and with a focus on high quality. The same high quality is applied to all ingredients in their drinks, especially my favorite the Aztec mocha which has a combination of dark chocolate and a touch of chili peppers. If you're in Carlsbad you should stop by, they really are a fantastic shop!

I got a mocha with oat or almond milk in my own reusable cup. They have vegan options which I’m excited to try next time I’m in town. I had a vegan banana nut pastry. That was really good! One of their nut milks is made in house, and I got that one. The mocha was okay which I never get, but I just wanted to give it a try.

Açaí Bowl was excellent! We had one latte which was hot and one mocha which was just lukewarm, not hot enough. Atmosphere is average as coffee shop seating can be alongside the street and on sidewalk area. Upper seating looked nicer.
