Came highly recommended. Left highly 😞 disappointed. Canned red enchilada sauce and canned beans or if they're homemade, they need a lot of work. At least buy red enchilada sauce that isn't bitter. Definitely feels like home. While gentrification of the hood no longer makes this the "barrio", this spot just outside of Carlsbad Village HITS THE SPOT! Such rich history and embedded in the community, this is THE spot to hit if your craving authentic menudo, chili relleno burritos, huevos rancheros and all the typical meals you might find in a Mexican household (back in the day). I tried the Carne Asada Fries and it was delicious, only two small hard pieces. Other than that the meat was really good, next time will get it with sour cream, guacamole, and pico.
