I went on valentines with my wife, it was empty so we were like let’s leave the experience we might find a gem, and oh boy what a gem… First 20 minutes was us being ready for our order, after they took our order another 15 minutes for the drinks to come which it was a coke and a lemonade, 25 minutes went by and not even our starters arrived which were 3 flautas, after about 5 more minutes we asked for our food and our main entree was served (fajitas) without tortillas, 15 minutes later the tortillero (tortilla warmer) came because we asked for them but no tortillas inside jajaja, by this time I didn’t know if to laugh or get mad, after another 15 minutes the flautas came with sour cream and we told the server without sour cream, by this time we asked for the check so we could head out, when we went to pay the manager looked at the check thought about a minute and then apologized for the service and said, “you don’t have to pay” I mean besides the no paying experience for something I didn’t eat, I wouldn’t recommend at all this place

Such an unexpected, wonderful dinner experience. I know this spot has changed several times in the past few years but whatever they’ve done they have done it RIGHT. I was blown away by how handmade everything tasted, such good quality! We had a slew of appetizers and it was so delicious and filling that we ended with the churros and are ready to go back! Definitely our new favorite Mexican spot.

Stopped by for lunch with the wife. We’ve passed by here on multiple occasions and finally decided to try it out.

Portions are large and well worth the cost. Food is delicious, I had the Fuego Molcajete, wife had the elote and the flautas. Both looked and tasted great. It wasn’t too busy, but the decor and ambiance was nice. Music playing, just enough to provide nice atmosphere. Server was attentive and friendly. Manager even came to check in as well.

Would definitely recommend to friends and family and we will be coming again.

We stopped for a quick lunch and grabbed some tacos and a margarita. The server was very friendly but the margaritas were a little slow. The chips and salsa were perfect. They had a soup sampler that was good too.

All in all we were happy with the experience. W dined outside on their covered patio. I would recommend it if the weather permits.

Vegetarian options: Salad and vegetable street tacos were what I noticed

Dietary restrictions: Lots of options for a variety of restrictions

Parking: Large parking spot

Kid-friendliness: Good menu for kids

Great location in Carlsbad mall for Mexican food. With a bar, lots of TV to watch sports, margarita cart, happy hour or fine dining. Must try foods elote, taquitos, nachos, molcajete and for sure margaritas, tequila or mezcal. The server were fast, attentive and friendly. 5 stars in my book.

This place is very nice. But food and service is beyond terrible. Not worth the money or the time. I was expecting better tasting food...such a disappointment ?

My wife and I dined here about 5:30 on a Monday. Apparently this is the slowest time of the week for them and there were only a handful of diners. Since it was Happy Hour AND Monday, the margaritas were $4.00, big, strong, and tasty. The complimentary chips (housemade?) were light, thin, and crispy, with medium and medium hot salsas. We ordered the molcajeta. This was a huge lava bowl, brimming with chicken, steak, nopales, onions, peppers, cheese, and a very nice sauce. On the side a large plate of rice, refried beans, and guacamole. Even though we dug in with relish, we had enough left over to make burritos the next day and, with eggs, machaca the day after that. I highly recommend the molcajeta! The restaurant looks clean and well kept, if huge. The server and bartenders were very attentive and fun to talk to, great service. We will be back.

The food, service, and happy hour deals are amazing here. I'm surprised this place isn't busier. Out of the Mexican restaurants in Carlsbad this place has the best food, drinks, and flan. Drew gave great service on 09/18 when my daughter and I came in. It's my 5th time being here and everything I've tried is great

This place is excellent for good food and service. Our waitress Kayla was attentive and made our experience one we are looking forward to returning for. The Fuego Molcajete was delicious and a huge amount of protein. The chef came out and introduced herself and she was very sweet and takes a lot of pride in her unique mexican cuisine. Definite 5 star all around.
