Pelly's Fish Market & Cafe

This place was recommended but I did not know what to expect. I thought the place would be bigger. I did not expect it to be so casual. However, the food is delicious! We had the swordfish plate and clam chowder. Both of which were perfectly prepared. The portions of the rice and fish were ample but not overfilling. The salad paired with raspberry vinaigrette was unique. The clamchowder is excellent. To extend the experience, we ordered more clam chowder, a sea bass sandwich, grilled with lemon butter like the swordfish, and a large order of fish device. I would highly recommend coming in to dine and experience epicurean delights.

Restaurant came highly recommended by a local. Fresh fish meals and sandwiches. The owner was interesting and gave us a history on her place. Outdoor patio was comfortable and weather was perfect. You pay a little more but definitely worth it. Actually ate there twice during our stay in Carlsbad

Pellys always has freshest fish in Carlsbad so you cannot go wrong in their fish market. downside is that their prices are extremely high. The fish cafe is also terrific for casual patio dining. Highly recommend their spicy chowder and swordfish. and if you need a little variety, pick up the house favorite at Primo's Pizza next door.

Pelly’s has a great assortment of fresh flown in fish and oysters. The food taste is geared towards the SoCal crowd and portions are very satisfying. My family of 9 had dinner there one evening and enjoyed the service and food quality.

The place has a great selection and good service. Not the cheapest place, but it is quality food, and the portions are pretty good. My daughters loved the steamed mussels, which tasted great.

The fish and chips at this place is the best I’ve ever had. I eat there at least twice a month. I usually get the Alaskan halibut which comes in a two piece with french fries.
The Fillet Are very large, very fresh and very tasty. The staff is friendly, and the place is clean. As a bonus, the next-door Italian food is owned by the same people so you can mix and match.

They offer the best fresh fish, an excellent selection, and outstanding service. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and haven’t purchased fish anywhere else since.

Great Fish Market with hot food. If you like seafood it is a must in North County.

This was THEE BEST fish market/restaurant ‼️❤️‍🔥 Extremely fresh 😋. I saw them carving a fresh catch right behind the counter. The seared yellowtail was phenomenal 👏. Done exactly as you ask with different rubs or sauces. 100% going back to buy some fresh fish to make at home. They have Sashimi too‼️

First time here, and we were not disappointed! Fresh seafood, great food. Good for lunch or a casual date. Had the calamari and fried shrimp. They also have the raw seafood to purchase.

Absolutely top notch, delicious food! We’ve been on a quest to check out several local restaurants for fish and chips and this has been our favorite so far! Fresh fish perfectly battered and seasoned without being heavy and greasy. The fish was flaky and tender. We are picky about the tarter sauce and this was awesome! Has a dill flavor and is well seasoned. We ordered one basket of fish and chips and one basket of shrimp and chips. All of it was great. Great service when ordering at the counter. The outdoor seating was comfortable with tables with umbrellas in the sun and some tables in the courtyard with shade. We will be back again and again to try other dishes here.

Small place. Limited seating but pretty good food. My wife ordered a shrimp taco with black beans. They brought a fish taco instead with corn tortilla instead of flour tortilla. They quickly fixed that and she enjoyed it. The black beans came in a cute tortilla bowl. I had the bowl of clam white chowder. Reasonably priced and large quantity. Very filling. Not quite what I expected having been used to Legal Seafood very creamy chowder or my own when made with lots of cream. This was tasty but more like thickened milk. Lots of veggies in it so it was a very thick chowder. The potatoes could have been cooked longer for my taste. My brother and his wife had fried breaded cod with fries and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good size portions. I will come back to this place.

Visiting the area and wanted fish and chips with ample parking and not super crowded. This place was everything and more. Parking in front and back, quick service and fresh, hot food! Not only was the fish amazing, the fries were seasoned and crispy too. They also do not skimp on the sauces and gave us two tartar and one ketchup each. Best experience!!❤️

This is our go to spot for a fantastic, casual seafood lunch. I absolutely love the grilled salmon salad. The clam chowder is also a local favorite. Plenty of seating outdoors to enjoy the sea air. Also a great place to pick up some fish to take home and cook. Highly recommend!

Kid-friendliness: Easy place to bring kids. Order at the counter and they deliver your food to your table outside.
