Edgar's at Quail Lodge

We live in Quail and are so very happy to once again have Edgars open for dinner. The food is outstandingly prepared and the menu delivers great value. For us it was so much fun to see many friends and neighbors here. Service is upbeat and attentive and when the restaurant is busy it's not fair to expect 15 minute turnaround times, enjoy a cocktail/mocktail or wine, an appetizer and be patient for great food. Our chef is outstanding!

Had the Flat iron steak and it was very tender and good. They substituted another vegetable instead of potatoes. I appreciated that!

Food was great, patio was lovely, service was outstanding, and the price was fair-can't ask for much more.

Edgar’s is a well kept secret in Carmel Valley. They are open Friday through Sunday for dinner, and it’s a delight. Definitely try the Friday Lasagna special it’s a winner.

Welcome back Edgar's! It is truly delightful to have Edgar's open again for dinners Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The casual and welcoming atmosphere, along with delicious food, are reasons enough to dine here. Then add on the attentive service and Edgar's is once again going to be our go-to spot.

The grand re-openning in April 2025 is a hit. New menu for dinners on the weekends is a huge hit.
Food is fresh and have a great smoke selection. Barbecue platter is plenty for two, prime rib on Sunday was smoked to perfection. The new menu has a good variety but Friday, Saturday and Sunday when open for dinner has the special of the day. Make reservations, it's busy on the dinner nights.

Lunches are great too along with the patio view. Management has really turned this place around.

We are so excited Edgar‘s has reopened after a five year hiatus. The new chef has brought some great food options to the menu, especially the barbecue ribs! Don't miss them. Friday night music along with a vibrant scene is fast becoming a new hangout in this hidden gem just beyond downtown Carmel.  We had such a good experience Friday night with a group dinner that we returned Saturday night for the beef Wellington, which was fantastic. The new general manager is definitely turning this entire property around. 

The Quail has gone above and beyond my expectations and I’ve only been here 3 hours!! The service is amazing and the grounds are exquisitely perfect!! The suite is probably the nicest room I’ve ever stayed in. I am in love with this place. Don’t even want to leave to go anywhere else! I highly recommend!!

Great lunch spot.

I wasn’t able to call and address this directly, so here’s my experience. I ordered the Farmers Market Salad with chicken and a water, while my husband got a flatbread pizza. Unfortunately, the meal left much to be desired:
1. The salad was missing the chicken I paid extra for, and it was completely drenched in balsamic dressing—with two extra containers of balsamic on the side. 2. It had GOAT CHEESE, which I absolutely hate!. I wouldn’t have ordered the salad if the menu had listed goat cheese as an ingredient. Because of this, I could only eat about a quarter of it, as the cheese had touched everything. 3. The water tasted like it came straight from an unfiltered tap—undrinkable.
4.The flatbread pizza was served cold, though it did taste decent. 5. No utensils to eat salad. No napkins 6. For all this, we paid $50.

Overall, this was a disappointing experience for the price. Better menu transparency and attention to detail could have made a big difference.

So hope for better food. Carnitas tacos were filling but dry and lacking flavor. The grain bowl used to be better. No fish option on the menu which is both surprising and disappointing. I expect more from a Peninsula Group property unless this is on a different tier.
