My wife and I had dinner at Flying Fish Grill, and it was wonderful. This was our second visit, and we sat at the same table - next to the fireplace near the entrance. Cozy. Intimate. The steamed artichokes appetizers were delicious, the salmon was prepared perfectly and the wine selection was amazing. Our waiter, Anthony, was knowledgeable, helpful, attentive, and gracious. We will definitely have dinner there again on our next visit to Carmel.

Small and cozy, very fun vibe that makes you feel like you’re somewhere else. The food was very good. Their asian fusion dishes are definitely worth trying but make a reservation or be prepared to wait.

Wow just WOW. Everything from the chips and ginger salsa, seafood tower, abalone, tartare, and hot pot just amazing! By the way get the Hot pot and abalone!!! From the time you walk in until the time you leave you have the experience and food of your life. Hands down will be coming back and as my wife said we regret not coming here sooner... Thank you for one of the best date nights in years and for an experience we will never forget. As someone who has been to a lot of great places across the US this might top the list. I'm forever grateful ?

This is our new favorite date night spot. Feels like unpretentious high end dining right in the carmel plaza. You need reservations in advance but it's worth planning for. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of ingredients. The flavors were complex but each dish tasted like something your grandmother would make; yummy and filling in the best way. Great wine list too. It's a smaller, quieter spot so I would probably go solo or as a couple. The wait staff were very attentive and anticipated our needs without rushing us. If you want to get ripped off, go to fish hopper. If you want to eat like a local, eat here.

After looking at approx 15 different restaurants, we decided to stop in to the flying fish grill. It is very cute and intimate setting. We didn't have a reservation, but the host was able to squeeze us in, despite the fact that there are only 45 seats in this underground restaurant. We started with the garlic edamame, which was absolutely delicious. I ordered the halibut, and it was by far the best halibut I've ever had in my entire life. I couldn't even eat anything else on the plate because I didn't want to take away from the deliciousness of the fish. I'm sure everything else is amazing on the menu, but if you are a fan of halibut, even if you aren't a fan of halibut, get the it! We are going to be here for three days and I would love to be able to eat here for every single meal and try everything on the menu. run don't walk if you're in the area and looking for a fantastic dining experience. All of the staff were very friendly, and we truly enjoyed our experience from the moment we sat down. We will be back.

Had the best meal and service we’ve had in a long time! A welcoming atmosphere, great advice from the waitstaff and delicious food (we had the black bean halibut as mains with a couple of appetizers plus wontons and special salsa). Highly recommended!

Lucked into finding this restaurant on a cold rainy evening! What a gem! Greeted by the owner Honza who made us comfortable right away! Wonderful food and wine, but the atmosphere and server Christina were the stars of the evening! Highly recommend this spot!

My wife and I are retired farmers from TN. We, along with my sister, we're on our first trip to the area for the AT&T Pebble Beach. Being simple country folk, we were a little intimidated about dining in Carmel. After Thursday's round at Pebble, while walking to my car, I noticed the sign for the restaurant and the name really caught my attention. After attending Friday's round, I told my wife and sister to meet me there for dinner. What a great choice! The place is very cozy and inviting. It has been in business for over 30 years which is a testament to it's quality. My sister had the Spicy Tuna Tartare and my wife had the Shrimp Curry Soup as first course choices. I didn't order a first course, but we were offered a complimentary order of Wanton Chips with a special Sweet Pico sauce that was simply amazing. For our main course, my sister ordered the Yin-Yan Salmon, my wife had the Grilled Salmon, and I had the New York Steak. All of our food was amazing and well worth the visit, but what really made our experience memorable was the warm, welcoming hospitality of the entire staff! We were seated by the host and offered drinks by a server, (whose names I forgot...sorry). They were both very friendly and welcoming. The entire staff took this from a very good dinner, to a next level pleasure! But the highlight of our dining experience was our server Tony! He is by far the best server that we have ever encountered! His smile was infectious and his knowledge was incredible! He took the time to get to know us, he laughed and cut up with us, and on a number of occasions, he used the word blessed to describe different things. Things like blessed to have great owners to work with, blessed that we were dining with them, etc. Tony and the entire family at Flying Fish Grill were a blessing to me and my family. Thanks for such an enjoyable evening! This is a 100% can't miss if you are in the area! We can't wait to come back again for many years!

Amazing food and service the miso black cod and sea bass are stellar! The wait staff was so much fun and the wine was priced excellently! One of my favorite hidden gems in Carmel.

Excellent dinner. We started with the fried calamari and split a salad. Then the signature Sea bass and halibut in parchment with fermented black beans. For dessert... fried banana with vanilla ice cream chocolate sauce was outstanding. This place very well may be the best restaurant in Carmel.
