We really enjoy eating here. The service is excellent, the food is very good. It has an old style elegance. Very nice menu selections and a nice wine list. The servers are attentive, not overly so and very helpful in guiding wine selection and food recommendation. We walked past this restaurant many times in the past and were really glad when we finally made a reservation. Now we eat there every time we are in town!

Our go to spot each time we are in town - the escargot and sweet breads are perfect every time! Love this neighborhood gem!

It was simply perfect. Great service, we weren't rushed through dinner. We could easily carry a conversation, no problem hearing each other. Quite a charming place.

Not good at all. Very disappointed in such an expensive dinner. The escargot was good but the duck was bland and the skin was chewy on the duck breast and not flavorful at all. The sauce was fair and vegetables mushy. My husbands salad was a very small version of a Caesar salad. For $$$$ it should have been excellent. Our server was good. There was only one other couple in the restaurant and not busy at all.

Beautiful ambience with a nice european touch! Food and wine were spectacular and service spot on!

Love the restaurant! Our waiter was kind and welcoming and the food was amazing. Will definitely come back!

Excellent food and service. Classic French with lots of butter attentively served. Everything was delicious and well presented. The room needed a little something, but I really did not care as the food was so good.

Great service from a very knowledgeable waiter, food fine as always. One of our favorite Carmel spots.

Absolutely hands down our fav! Our go to for always good food and really good lemondrop and vodka martini. The waiters are very knowledgeable about the menu and impeccable service every time. We dine early so we beat the later diners its the best!

It was “ok”. For the price point, I would have expected a full bar. The escargot was incredible. The rest of the food and experience was just “meh”. Menu very limited in selection. We got the specials (Beef Wellington and Sole); nothing to rave about. There other places I would have rather gone in Carmel-by-the-Sea that have better ambiance and food selection

We loved L'Esgarot! The food was delicious and the service was excellent! We will definitely bring coming back!

We both had the fresh Petrale sole, which was delicious. My husband had the snails appetizer, and I had the pear and goat cheese salad. Both were wonderful. The ambience was serene and intimate, and the service was exceptional. Our waiter made my Manhattan himself, and it was perfect. We'll be back!

We have really loved L'Escargot in the past. The food wasn't as good. I had ordered my beef Wellington medium rare and the waiter told me to cut into it right away so it doesn't keep cooking and I did, but it was overcooked well-done which is pretty much ruined. I didn't send it back and neither did my mom when there were several chips in the ramican that her (mediocre) French onion soup was served in. It didn't even occur to me to leave a bad review until we got the bill and there was an extra charge for using a credit card and an automatic 20% tip for our “large” (5 person) party. Very presumptuous. We always tip at least 20% and still would have even with the mediocre food because the service was good. Usually when the tip is added it's 15% and we ad d some extra, but that and the extra credit card charge left a bad taste in our mouths. Do better, L'Escargot!

We had not been for a very long time and just loved the food! The ambiance is cozy and rustic and the pricing very fair.

Lovely! Highlights were the Dover sole and French onion soup. Steak frites are a good one to skip- very tough and not enjoyable. As long as you order correctly, fantastic dinner and ambiance.
