Our first time will definitely NOT be our last. We liked everything about this place. Great food, service and reasonable for this kind of quality. We had the Black Cod and Swordfish, both were excellent l. If they have the homemade sorbets, save room for desert.

Everyone, from the hostess Jenny, through our waiters and table attendants , Lalo, Timo, & Manuel service and accommodation was exceptional. Our dishes were outstanding. The mussels were fabulous. The tomahawk steak was unbelievable. All in all, a terrific experience. A very special restaurant. The ambience is so welcoming. As others have said in the past, this is a “gem” of a restaurant. Also, and not a minor point, the fact that our little furry love (cava poo) was welcomed as part of the dining experience made for an exceptional evening. We thank everyone associated with Mission Bistro for a delightful experience.

We both had the famous burger and fries. Our burgers were undercooked and the fries were superb!! We will try again one day.

After driving 7 hours this was the absolute perfect dinner spot to unwind and get into classic Carmel by the Sea mode! Delicious , lovely, and keeps us coming back for more.

Went to visit my wife for lunch as she works in the area, this place delivers, summer special a burger and some wine fit the feeling we were going for. Worth a stop!

Very good food and bistro/grill decor. Wait staff were functionally okay, but with flat, unengaged demeanor. Overall vibe was subdued.

Everything was wonderful! As others have mentioned, the crab cakes are some of the best we've ever had. The salmon and pork were perfectly cooked. The owner spent several minutes talking with us. Overall a great experience which we intend to repeat on every visit to the area.

From the beginning they smugly told us we could not get in when clearly there were tables at 8 pm. Finally they said we could sit as we were getting ready to leave, in a corner table in the bar. The band was loud and the singing obnoxious karaoke style with very bad singing.
Finally our waitress since it was my birthday asked if we wanted to move to a quieter dining area as she said we were so nice. She checked with management and they said NO. She was kind and did it anyway as there were so many tables. The new room was great but the new waitress was surly, the food was not good and the night ruined by the stuck up attitudes (except the nice waitress). Management kept walking by giving us dirty looks.
Not good and feel the customer owes them … so stuck up. Overpriced andat best average food and drink. Will never go here nor recommend. Service terrible …..

burger was delicious and juicy! chicken sandwich was flavorful, and the bread was unique! the dessert portions were a tad bit small but still super yummy.

Amazing restaurant that we came to since we have been in Carmel it was one of our favourites. Non-pretentious great staff amazing food. The chef obviously knows what he’s doing. They have wine based cocktails that are phenomenal which I love to see instead of drinking full alcoholic drinks. If you’re looking for a culinary destination, this is the place. I’ve been here several times and they never disappoint.

Disappointing First Experience

We visited this restaurant for the first time with my wife and family, hoping for a pleasant dinner based on the good reviews and nice photos online. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations.

When our server approached us, we had a few questions about the menu since it was our first visit. However, his responses felt abrupt and unwelcoming. There was little effort to explain anything or make us feel comfortable, which left a poor first impression.

We ordered a steak that was priced over $70, but it was unfortunately overcooked to the point where the crust was burnt and bitter. Other dishes for the kids and adults were also underwhelming for the price.

Although the website suggests an average cost of $30–$50 per person, the actual menu was noticeably more expensive, with many of the dishes and prices having changed significantly from what’s shown in Google photos or past reviews. Many of the items pictured are no longer available.

Came here for dinner from overseas and this was our favorite spot since we’ve been here in California for the past two weeks. Loved the wagyu special! Cozy inside and friendly staff.
