Upon my wayward travels, I do extensive research on prospective restaurants that I might want to frequent.And needless to say, I was lucky enough to stumble across this exquisite gem.Everything far exceeded my expectations and have had one of the best culinary experiences to date.I wish I could articulate just how amazing and flavorful the food was... but this is just something you need to experience for yourself.When I travel, I want food that'll have me talking about years after... and this was exactly that.I previous reviewer commented this place was something like in her top 5... and after dining here, I couldn't agree more.The Birria Queso Fundido was absolute perfection ?. I cannot say enough about the dish, but will be thinking about that for years to come. The heat and the flavor was simply devine.Every dish we got was incredible and I highly recommend anyone near to go!

Incredible family owned restaurant in Carmel! If you are in Carmel, do not miss a meal or two at Nicolas. Truly unbelievable- top 5 meals of my life. We started with Guacamole - add Ribeye + Pork Rinds, Shrimp & Bone Marrow with homemade corn tortillas, and then finished with splitting the chicken enchiladas. All three were so beautifully crafted- the star of the show was the Shrimp and bone marrow, which is not a dish we would usually order- a recommendation from our wonderful waiter, so glad we followed his lead!

This is not your ordinary, poor quality, refried everything Mexican food restaurant you can find anywhere you look. This is high quality ingredients, well prepared, well presented, extraordinary flavors, Mexican food you won’t find anywhere in Carmel. No side of Malox needed here! ? wonderful service to top it all off. Oh and the mescal Cocktails were fabulous!

Unique Mexican food served in a beautiful room. Loved the creativity, but would have appreciated more fish and veggie options. Several meat and mole options. Not a taco/burrito type of restaurant or entrees less that $20. The Shrimp enchiladas, were probably the most mainstream dish available and were excellent. Nice beer and cocktail options. Wines by the glass were less memorable.

It is difficult to find places in this area with a true flavor of Mexico, that is why Nicolás heritage cuisine will be on our list of favorites, as well as of course the excellent service because the owners are attentive to everything. Delicious drinks, atmosphere and interior design 10/10. I will return as soon as I have the opportunity and I highly recommend it.

What a breath of fresh air in Carmel. My husband and I went out on Friday for a date night and this restaurant checked all the boxes- service, atmosphere, and upscale dining. It’s hard to find a place in Carmel as a younger couple that has a great vibe and really makes you feel like you’re going out! I ordered their skinny marg which has strawberries and guava. I’m not a tequila fan so I was skeptical… I ordered 2, and have been craving them ever since. My husband got the chipotle marg- equally amazing. Started with the bone marrow topped with elote & birria taquitos- highly recommend. We got the crab chili relleno (highly recommend) and mocajete (was a little underwhelmed by the size, but it has high quality meat so I get it). Ended with another round of drinks, we both got skinny margaritas and shared a flan for dessert. Everything was above expectations- you should try this place out!
