Shale Canyon Wines

My mom & I visited just the other day for a quick 3 day weekend in Monterey & Carmel-by-the-sea & just casually walked right on into the Shale Canyon Wine tasting room
& couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing & informative tasting experience! We unfortunately didn’t get the name of the extremely kind woman behind the counter but she more than made our experience memorable & magical and we hope to be back in the future to try more wines!

Good wines, nice atmosphere.

I went here with my partner yesterday and we were served by Janice, one of the most bubbly and kind people we’ve met in hospitality in a long time! She told us stories about the town, about people she has met and some folklore. She also took a lot of time to hear what we wanted out of our wine tasting experience. She told us all about the wine and where it came from and how it was inspired. As someone who prefers white wine, their reds were really good and sat really well with me. Loved the whole experience and we will definitely be back the next time we visit!

Someone recommended this tasting room to us in Carmel-by-the-sea, and it couldn’t have been better! Janice was incredible. Told us about the history of the wines, how to taste, each varietal, and gave us local recommendations. This place was quaint, local to Carmel, and the wines were amazing!

I love to go wine tasting to discover great wines before purchasing the bottle. I especially enjoyed this tasting room the lovely woman by the name of Janice who poured the wine was such a delight she made all of the guests feel right at home and kept us all entertained with her humor and pleasant conversation. She made the whole experience such a joy.

We did a wine tasting at Shale Canyon wines and loved it! Our sommelier was super helpful and knowledgeable and the wines were delicious - I'd say it was some of the best wines I've had at a tasting. We got two bottles and look forward to enjoying!

Yesterday was the first time my wife and I ever did a wine tasting. Daverly took care of us and was so knowledgeable about everything. Definitely the tasting experience I was hoping for. Wines were amazing and as close to 100% organic as you can find. Thank you Daverly for being awesome in everyway, super nice and sweet.

Not sure how a tasting room like this stays in business. My friend called five different times to try to make a reservation and they never returned the call. They also don’t honor gift certificates or tasting cards they sell or donate so save your money and try the other winetasting rooms with a way better history and customer service. Awful experience here and zero for customer service if I could.

My friend and I purchased 4 wine tastings. We have called several times trying to book it. Left messages and got no response. I am so disappointed. It was for my husband's birthday.

Loved this place, the zinfandel was amazing. It's a must try at this place and Alicia was so kind and lovely ❤ we will be coming back again.
