I had the burger. It won the Best in Monterey County Award and deserves it. Really good. Wonderful food and service. Quieter than most places.
Very nice setting at the pond inside the quail lodge. Service may have been short staffed, still very pleasant, and good food.

The "Love Thy Neighbor" dinners at The Covey on Wednesday night are our favorite! Great food and great value! So sorry to see it come to an end... I hope the new chef will decide to reinstate it in the near future!
This is one of the better restaurants we ate at during our stay in the Carmel area. Let's start with the service which was excellent. Outdoor patio seating faces the pond with its fountain and distant hills. Of the items we tried (we ended up returning several times) the Tuna & Satsuma Mandarin and the Petite Filet were standouts. My husband claims they make the best hamburger on the coast!
Nice ambiance and location by the water. Service wasnt the best, food was pretty good actually but no wow factors
Good food. Okay service. At an event on a Friday night, we were kicked out at 9:45 because they closed at 10:00. There were 50 people attending. They were more concerned about closing and getting home than their patrons. Sad. We came 1800 miles for this event. I’ve never experienced this poor of service from a hotel if this status.

For hotel breakfast places, this is one of the best I've been too. Preparation is like a standalone restaurant than hotel dining. Portions are med/large, and coffee is dark brewed. View of the small pond adds to the dining experience. Highly recommend eating here, prices are fairly reasonable.
While the service and ambience were very good, there were several shortcomings in our dining experience. First, when I made the reservation several days in advance I had stated that this was a birthday celebration and there was nothing to indicate that it was so for the entire evening. As for the food, upon our arrival at 6:30, we were told that one appetizer was sold out and no longer available. It so happens that it was my first choice and I can understand if it were 8 or 9'clock, but it is unacceptable for the kitchen and the chef to run out so early. Then one of my dinner companions had ordered her beef entree to be served medium rare. When it arrived, it was very rare and had to be returned to the kitchen for correction. While the food presentations were lovely, both those experiences detracted from our evening. Our server was very good and did his very best to assist us. I was very impressed with the ambience and the general idea of "Love Thy Neighbor" dinners, but I might be hesitant considering it is not inexpensive, to return.
We ate breakfast here twice as we bought the breakfast credit. The first morning, we had the Quail omellette and butter milk pancakes. Both were really very good and filling. The next morning, we had 2 eggs, and the avocado toast. Both were good. Both days, we had a window table over looking the lake. Our server both days, Salomon was excellent!
Wednesday night is Prix Fix menu can be interesting and a good value if you like the starter, main dish and desert options. There are only a few choices so I would recommend looking at the menu before going. I had the Branzino fish which was good but it included no greens. There are no salad options on the menu either and I like to eat a more balance meal. It felt my meal was a bit too rich for me and I would prefer a more seasonal menu with fresh veggies. I would love to go for this evening more often as I live in the neighborood. I also think it's a mistake to not have installed blinds during the last renovation. We were blinded from the sun for most of the meal and couldn't easily see the other two people siting across the table.

This was a wonderful evening of top-notch food, elegant preparation and astonishing taste. The Covey has these special 3-course menus every Wednesday night, so put it down on your calendar. For $69 you won't regret it.
Covey Grill is my favorite, but I don't love the menu of late!! Miss clam chowder and wish they had a few more uncomplicated entrees!
As a local, I hesitate to give a review because once one discovers such a gem as the Wednesday night prix fixe menu, one selfishly doesn't want it to become too swamped with tourists! Truly an "haute cuisiine" experience, available right here without needing to travel to France (or Macedonia).!
spring is upon us and sitting in the sun by the pond is just lovely, The choice of menu was, again awesome.
Once again, the Prix Fixe meal on Wednesdays was a winner, shrimp app was fresh and delicious, the duck croquettes with tomato jam were perfect, pork chop Pastor tender and perfectly cooked, sea bass was melt in your mouth, all this followed with a smooth chocolate mouse. Each weeks menus are a delight and different.
