No. His food is okay but it's not worth the wait, his dogs roaming freely in a restaurant, or the PRICE$$$! Unless you want to sacrifice an arm or a leg.I lived on the Douglas Ranch and know thier "facilities". I also know Mike Jones Monday night dinners from the General Store. Neither are worth the price or your time.

My wife, myself, and my #2 son had dinner reservations for 6:30 pm at a new restaurant in Visalia California called "Nash's" on Main Street. We waited over an hour to be seated, with no contact from staff at all. The restaurant was busy. After flagging down a hostess, we were finally seated. Elapsed time now over one & one half hours. We ordered a bottle of wine, which we received, and looked at the menu. The waiting game continued, and at hour two our order was finally taken. At two and one half hours, after a nice couple at a nearby table intervened, we finally were served. No acknowledgement or apologies. The short ribs were excellent but the service was inexcusable.

Amazing quality at reasonable prices. True country atmosphere. I recommend the Sunday brunch smoked salmon Benedict with a real hollandaise sauce the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had with melted butter and real maple syrup. Yum!

Special place. Schedule changes. Consider yourself lucky if you can get table service. Love filled food.

First visit to the reincarnated Cachagua General Store, now located at Douglas Ranch, and it's a much better venue -- still rustic but less grungy. Michael is just getting restarted and his locally famous Monday dinners may be sporadic for a while -- follow the progress on it's Facebook page. Note, BTW, that there's no corkage fee at these dinners.

The much-loved CGS has both re-relocated and been reincarnated as The Kitchen at Douglas Ranch ( 33200 E Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel Valley, CA 93924 -- 3 miles west of Carmel Valley Village).

A truly great find where you would least expect it. Almost World Class food, friendly country ambiance.

I am so sad that the single most storied and fabled restaurant in recent California history, the Cachagua General Store, has closed. I recall the singular experience of having a proprietor rate his customers. That was truly something and tells you a lot about the quality he was putting out. This place had all the local history tied up in it. You couldn't get in the door if you weren't committed to local Carmel Valley culture. What a loss! I can only hope that a similar venture will one day be created in its image.

Same food, service, and wine in a much more convenient location. 1.5 hours from order to entre, but that is similar to before.

Unique. "Monday Night Restaurant" is a treasure - amazing, world-class food in the most casual setting. Go in with eyes open, though! If you are willing to make the trek, adjust your schedule so you can go the little slice of time they are open, abide by their (reasonable) requests (no split checks, etc.), you are in for a treat. Let them take care of you, suggest wines and dishes, and you won't be disappointed. But don't expect speedy service, white tablecloth atmosphere, or even matching flatware or glasses. Funky, fun, delicious, and one-of-a-kind.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The most amazing food (seriously)! We dine here every time we visit San Francisco or Monterey.
