I love Filipino food and bbq so I’ve been wanting to try this place, but there are other good options in this food court so I usually end up getting something else. However, today I did actually get Chinese food at another vendor but wanted to try Tony’s, so I just got a quarter (thigh and leg) of Inasal grilled chicken and I was shocked how good it was!!
The meat was so tender while the outside has an amazing savory char flavor. Usually when the skin and outside is charred well the meat can be a little dry or even hard in parts, but not this one! It brought me back to Boracay when I first tried the famous Mang Inasal chain. That changed my chicken life, but I think this one is even better!
Ryzel was so warm and welcoming and helped me understand some of the menu items and the difference between Inasal and BBQ chicken. Her hospitality helped push me over the fence and just get the chicken, even though I already ordered other food. So glad I did because now I’m going to crave this chicken and bring others here, and I’m excited to try their adobo and other food!
One more thing, it was only $4.25 for a quarter…are you kidding me? These days even at a fast food chain it’s $4 for one chicken thigh (I just paid this the other day at a Guatemalan fast chicken chain). If this was served at a restaurant around here or in LA it would probably be $10 or so, and only $7-8 for happy hour haha.
Definitely 5 star for the food and 5 for Ryzel’s excellent service. We talked more later about the Philippines, her upcoming trip back, and recs for the next time I go back. Very sweet and nice person.
Why 5 stars for the atmosphere? Well, it’s a little too bright for my taste (but it’s in a supermarket so I get it) and the lights could be warmer, plus since it’s in 99 Ranch you can smell a little“Chinese grocery store smell” (mix of fish and Chinese spices and smells) when you walk in, but I’m giving it 5 stars because there’s tons of seating, it’s newish and modern, you can relax there as long as you want, and there are other good food and drink vendors in this decent but small Cravings food court.

Ordered the 10 piece lumpia pieces, super soggy not krispy at all and grilled Bangus plate with rice that was mushy. It took 30-45 mins for a simple lunch during non-busy hour to receive my order.

Tony's Barbecue is a hidden gem that left me craving for more. The freshly grilled squid and succulent pork belly stole the show with their tantalizing flavors. The squid was tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned, while the pork belly melted in my mouth with its juicy goodness. However, what truly set Tony's Barbecue apart was their unmatched Filipino-style barbecue sauce. It added a unique and authentic touch to the dishes, elevating them to new heights. With an inviting ambiance, attentive staff, and their remarkable barbecue sauce, Tony's Barbecue is a must-visit for grilling enthusiasts seeking a delightful culinary adventure.

mad bun is so bomb! they been there since it opened and when the other spots have come and gone they still remain!
I love the market and food court concept, a one stop shop. Beleaf burger was my main focus of the visit. We had the Chicken Katsu and Go Fish Filet sandwiches, (out of the Omnipork Bahn Mi), and they were very delicious. Yummy tastes and sauces with a crunch. The bf tried the Mad Seoul at Mad Bun. A sandwich with bulgogi and kimchee. He said it was ok, but he's not much of a foodie as I am (I don't eat meat, but it looked really good). The food court was simple and very clean. We did go early evening, so the rest of the food court was closed. They have a small bar and an area where you can park your shopping cart to grab a bite to eat.. As for 99 Ranch Market itself, it was spacious, and had the many interesting things you would and would not expect or find in other stores. My fav part of the store is always the snacks. Tasty, interesting international treats
