Foods tastes authentic. Very friendly cashiers taking the orders at the register, so no waiting for someone to come take the order. They've converted a big chunk of the former grocery section into a bar, currently with 4 beers on tap and several others in bottles/cans. Best tamales in town, but frustrating service. I ordered two dozen over the phone and paid in advance but they called the day of pick-up saying they were getting low and needed us to pick up asap. I had told them upon order that it would be an end of day pick-up and that they didn't need to be heated because we were flying them to family. They were also hot when we arrived.
One word, Chingones! Karlita’s offers delicious hot and authentic food, a carniceria(meat market), and most recently, a wine and beer bar inside the locale. You can also buy all your La Rosa tortilla and masa needs here, a Watsonville original.
From the hot food deli, I recommend their menudo and steak tacos.
From their carniceria, I urge you to try their ranchera cuts.
