I'm quite surprised by the low reviews for the McDonalds in Colfax. It's really good! We went drivethru in Jan 2026, and the food and service was excellent.
Not sure when the renovated this McD, but it's definitely new with the amenities. The outside and inside was spacious and the food quality was good. The restrooms are clean, and the interior is welcoming.
I ordered for the car, a bacon quarter pounder, 2 filet o fish, fries, mc crispy deluxe, and nuggets and drinks. Everything was solid. Glad we stopped here for a quick break.
Location wise- there is a bit of a 'U-turn' as you get off the freeway, as you need to backtrack 1 mile if you missed the earlier exit. But there was plenty of parking, and we had a good experience. Enjoy!

The staff is friendly. But is probably one of the slowest dirtiest McDonald's around, and it's more expensive because it's in up the hill everything's cheaper down the hill.

I almost always come this McDonald's during the week for breakfast but a few.times now they have somehow forgotten to put sweetener in my coffee even though it's requested in my order. I have complained on the app but we'll see if anything changes.

I'm very been in McDonalds in about 98 countries across the globe and THIS one in Colfax CA is hands down THE nicest one I have EVER eaten in. Delicious, fresh food and coffee, lovely service, pleasant ambiance, very clean and GORGEOUS location with fantastically fresh, mountain air. Worth a stop on the way to from Sugar Bowl / Tahoe / Donner Lake!

This place is more expensive than other McDonalds. They also only have self-serve kiosk available to order. If you get people that can’t decide it’s so annoying having to wait instead of ordering with a person at a register.

This was a great place to go but now the owner got greedy and wants to charge a lot more than every other McDonald's in Northern California an order of cookies used to be like $2.25 now it's 369 that is crazy and the meals went up $3 a piece I will never be going there again
